  1. Review - Google Talk

    1.0.0.64 Beta (Aug 24, 2005)

It is pretty elegant, but it just does not have enough of features we are used to - buddy info, fonts, chat, file transfer, etc. Also, after several attempts I could not get the audio working on the calls. Gmail integration is somewhat useful, or at least it will be if this program catches on. All in all, a reasonable beta, much more of a beta than all the completely working google features which are still in beta (groups, new, froogle, local, maps, earth, etc).

  2. Comment - Congress debates whether P2P users should be warned like cigarette smokers

    1.0.0.64 Beta (May 5, 2009 - 7:42 PM)

Smoking may cause serious health problems.
P2P may cause media industry associations to go after you with lawsuits for 1000s of time the value of your copyright infringement because the current legal system lets them.

So the government should warn us that copyright law and their legal system is horribly out of date instead of fixing it?

  3. Comment - Apple Upgrades MacBook Pros

    1.0.0.64 Beta (Jun 5, 2007 - 12:10 PM)

They are expensive, but they haven't raised the price since debut.

  4. Comment - Linux-Powered Dells Begin Shipping

    1.0.0.64 Beta (May 24, 2007 - 10:19 PM)

You didn't notice that Microsoft is being so vague and throwing out random numbers in their accusations? Remember the last company that accused Open Source of crazy things? SCO, a company that is going to be bankrupt very soon. I don't think Microsoft is going to be stupid enough to go down that path.

  5. Comment - House Debates Net Tax Ban

    1.0.0.64 Beta (May 23, 2007 - 11:31 PM)

I don't know how it works in other states, but where I live, in Ohio, people are still supposed to pay Ohio taxes on purchases made from other states if that state or local government did not charge taxes on it. It is of course very hard to enforce (on the tax form they just ask how much you owe), but it is still technically collected.

  6. Comment - Microsoft Responds as EU Considers Break-Up

    1.0.0.64 Beta (Apr 23, 2007 - 5:53 PM)

If Microsoft genuinely does not understand what the EU wants, why do they wait until the last minute on everything? MS could have asked the day after the request what kind of prices the EU was talking about, but every single time they respond "barely meeting [the] deadline."
