  1. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    2.0.166.1 Beta (Feb 28, 2009)

"It's a 5, always been a 5 since way back. The fastest, safest bloomin' browser out there. If you ain't using it don't knock it. Most who give it less than a 5 are still struggling with whatever version of Opera is not crashing this week, and as for Firefox fans, well you need to make the most of the next few versions of your little browser, it's doomed you know ? Google will cut it loose, and it'll be up at the back of the class with the Linux crowd."

Hey Sturgess... whatever you are smoking or popping is deluding your rational thought processes. Detox and come back to reality.

As I stated before Speed is not everything. Just because the Google logo is plastered on it does not make it a gem. From reading the reviews, it is pretty clear that the devs break more stuff than they fix with each release. That is really sad.

  2. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    2.0.159.0 (Jan 28, 2009)

Still no add-ons? Speed is not everything.

  3. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    0.4.154.25 Beta (Nov 25, 2008)

I could care less how fast or how slow Chrome loads a page. Until there are add-on capabilities included so that I can customize to my liking, I will not use Chrome. I refuse to surf without an adblocker. I am sick of all the crap that is forced in my face. If you are one of those types that claim I am stealing the internet or stealing money out of the advertisers pocket.... get a clue... that business model is lame and most do not tolerate it. Time to adapt or die.

  4. Review - ExtractNow

    4.26 (Aug 1, 2006)

I have not installed this software for review. I read the description and noticed it was capable of extracting a many formats. I was surprized to see that it could not extract tar and tar.gz formats.

Since I can not leave a post here without numerical rating, I am assigning a 3. Not high and not low.

Too bad this forum has this limitation.

  5. Review - 7-Zip (32-bit)

    4.35 Beta (Mar 3, 2006)

"While I love 7z compression, I'm still perplexed at the glacial progress of 7-Zip. Thus I have the same conclusion: until someone catches up to WinRAR, I'll pass."

I agree with you completely Zridling. I am not a "monkey see.... monkey do" type of person. Just because the majority of the PC populas uses some favor of ZIP does not mean I do. I prefer the best compression I can get. If ZIP was to change and do a better job at compressing files than WinRAR, I would change. Until then..."I'll pass".

  6. Comment - Google Chrome 4: Yes, it's fast, but is it usable?

    4.35 Beta (Nov 11, 2009 - 9:21 AM)

Initially I assumed the same thing. I was running into this issue on a Vista Ultimate 64 workstation while navigating through Facebook. So, I installed Chrome on my other workstation running Windows XP Professional 64 and it experiences the same tab crashes. I have had tab crashes on other web sites but they are very rare. On Facebook they are common place on both workstations and they are random. I have not found a pattern as of yet.

  7. Comment - Google Chrome 4: Yes, it's fast, but is it usable?

    4.35 Beta (Nov 9, 2009 - 12:01 PM)

I am like many of you that have posted here. I will not jump to Chrome until there is support for extensions/themes with a large selection from which to choose. The way bookmarks are handled is abysmal at best. Speed is not everything. Oh.... and this is the real road block for me...

from the Google Chrome comic http://www.google.com/go...ooks/chrome/med_04.html

"And if there's a browser bug in the renderer (and our experience is that it's almost impossible to eliminate all bugs), we still only lose one tab." "When one tab goes down you get a 'sad tab' but it doesn't crash the whole browser"

Unfortunately, this is not a true or correct statement, I have had 10+ tabs open... out of the blue the page I am on goes to the 'sad tab' and within seconds the rest of the tabs follow suit.

"When you have too many tabs open, you can close some to free up memory."

Again, this is not true or correct. I have had many experiences when closing tabs, memory was not freed up.

Yes, I am aware Google Chrome is in a permanent beta status as most of Google's apps. I realize there will be issues occasionally. I find it very annoying to have a marketing pitch that promises the world only to be handed a pebble.

  8. Comment - AT&T: Google is an evil empire that must be stopped

    4.35 Beta (Oct 16, 2009 - 9:01 AM)

"AT&T: Google is an evil empire that must be stopped"

Wow... talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

  9. Comment - Windows 7: Will you pay to upgrade or won't you?

    4.35 Beta (Jun 29, 2009 - 12:14 PM)

Hmmm... your life must be really sad and depressing. You claim all is peachy and happy with the MAC.... yet you are here in a Windows forum trolling. Instead of offering up something informative or worth-while, we get to read your sniveling and whining. There are drugs that may help your manic depression. Might I suggest a sanitarium... in either case... please go away.

Oh...DRM infested.... are you even remotely suggesting that MACs have no DRM? Laughs at your ignorance.

  10. Comment - Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 beats IE8 in Microsoft's own load times test

    4.35 Beta (May 1, 2009 - 3:33 PM)

No! They should not include Opera.... get over it.
