  1. Review - Cloudmark Desktop for Outlook

    1.0 Beta 8C (Mar 14, 2003)

I can't say I've seen any problems with decreased spam-catching ability. The counter is currently showing that it's successfully caught 900 spams now, in the 2 months since I last rebuilt this PC. I can't say that I've had to block many spams myself, and I've never had an email blocked that I actually wanted to keep.

  2. Review - ICQ Lite

    Alpha Build #1019 (Jul 2, 2002)

Put back the history, and the option to go back to single-message mode. Then I'll happily use it (there's nothing else I want really).

  3. Review - XP-AntiSpy

    3.51 (May 8, 2002)

davorb: Any application that is set AS DEFAULT to cause a detrimental on my user experience is NOT a good thing. No 2-ways about it - as long as it chooses to set everything as default WITHOUT WARNING, the util will remain a 1-star application. It should either warn before applying settings that I haven't chosen, or NOT apply them. The author has already added a "choose recommended settings" option - why be conceited and automatically apply them without asking?

  4. Review - ICQ Pro

    2002a Beta v5.33 Build #3722 (Mar 26, 2002)

OK, so the minimising is an issue - I don't EVER want it to appear on my Task Bar. I guess they've just copied Windows Messenger functionality on that one though.

What is this XP Integration that they speak of? I've not noticed anything yet (I'm running XP Prof).

  5. Review - ICQ Pro

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Nov 2, 2001)

Me thinks they've screwed up with the release of ICQ2001b - there's been a new build EVERY DAY since release!

I'm amazed really, as I got all the way through the alpha period with very few problems!

  6. Comment - Yahoo Invites Users to Try Mail Beta

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Sep 15, 2006 - 8:31 AM)

Is this new? I hadn't realised that I'd been chosen as an early adopter!? I've been using this interface for many months now, and I won't go back. It's a HUGE improvement.

My only dislike is that new emails open in tabs that waste a lot of screen real estate. I always choose to open emails in a new window.

  7. Comment - AOL Buddies Up with ICQ

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Oct 30, 2002 - 5:17 AM)

The ICQ and AOL networks were merged a LONG time ago. You can use AOL servers as your ICQ connection server (which is how I got around our firewall block on ICQ), and last I checked you could log into AIM Express with an ICQ UIN.

Seems like this is just the last stage - actually getting the clients to talk to each other. About time too.

  8. Comment - Internet Explorer 6 Public Preview

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Mar 23, 2001 - 4:11 AM)

It's already in IE 5.01! It's an optional component (from Windows Update).

It's identified errors in crashes I've had and successfully reported a bug fix, which got rid of the problem I was experiencing.

Definitely a good feature, but not exactly a new one! (Unless they're counting the automatic-inclusion as being new).

  9. Comment - Microsoft Investigating IE6 Leaks

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Feb 9, 2001 - 3:10 PM)

    Thanks for the link Alister!

They've fixed all the issues I had with IE 5.5 (e.g windows locking up until DNS had resolved). There are a few other bugs, bit they're obvious and I'm sure will be fixed before release.

It hadn't actually occurred to me that it would change Windows Explorer as well (i.e. local file browsing). It'll take some getting used to, but on the whole I'd say it's a worthwhile upgrade.

  10. Comment - Newest Version of MySQL Locked and Loaded

    2001b Beta v5.15 Build #3637 (Jan 24, 2001 - 6:20 AM)

and thanks for clearing that up nate! I knew I wasn't going mad!
