Use of both the Firefox and IE rendering engines virtually eliminates compatibility problems associated with using just FF (eliminating the need for IE View extension). Security features are more extensive than in either FF or IE and the native RSS and webmail support are welcome features. With that being said, I feel the default interface is still awkward and cluttered, but an improvement over previous Netscape versions. I feel this is worth downloading and at least experimenting with, especially if FF or IE don’t fully meet your needs.
I apologize to Opera users for not having the experience with that browser to make a comparison.

Not a must-have application, but can be useful for making common tasks/information more accessable. Installation is smooth, and memory usage is reasonable (I have 5 widgets running using about 15 MB of memory). The ability to add widgets makes the program very expandable. The acquisition by Yahoo! will ensure even more content will become available.

I spent some time debating whether I would use SimplyMEPIS or Ubuntu as my Linux distro of choice. Although Ubuntu seems to have a cleaner interface, I believe SimplyMEPIS has better hardware detection. I was pleasantly surprised that it detected all devices on my HP laptop out of the box. I'm still tied to Windows due program compatibility issues with work, but keep my SimplyMEPIS Live CD close at hand. If you have never used Linux before, download the SimplyMEPIS Live CD (the OS boots from CD) and give it a shot. Its easy enough to use for newbies and has plenty of advanced features for experienced users.

Works as advertised in publisher's decription. Nothing revolutionary, but should meet the average user's screen capture needs.

We wouldn't be buying much - the list of countries that don't hate the US is very short.

Yes, but if you drink enough of the beer, the stench won't bother you anymore.

I can't speak for all consumers, but I know that I don't care. I just want a unified format that will play movies at 1080p resolution with Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Why is that so hard?

An irrelevant comment for an irrelevant article – not only does Gmail have nothing to do with SkyDrive, Lycos has nothing to do with either. Find somewhere else to spam.
