  1. Review - Ditto

    3.16.7.0 Beta (Jul 29, 2009)

This is a great productivity tool. Not perfect, but close to it and free!

    Changes since version 3.15.04.0:

    3.16.7.0 4-23-09
    - Added DittoUtil Addin, adds the ability to paste any clip type as text

    3.16.4.0 3-14-09
    - Fixed SetFocus fix in ActivateTarget -- needed AttachThreadInput
    - Added the ability to create add-ins, called before an item is pasted
    - Fixed issue with getting the currently focused window when not using the hook dll
    - Updated italiano language file
    - Added option to paste from hot key, press multiple times to move the selection, release the modifer key (control, s***, alt) to paste
    - Fixed word wrap option to reload correctly
    - Fixed issues with loading cut copy buffer 3 correctly from config on restart
    - Check if key is up before sending key up command. This was causing problems if an app is listening to global key up commands
    - Updated to sqlite version 3.16.10

  2. Review - Nero

    9.4.13.2 (Jun 2, 2009)

I base my rating on only the Nero Burning Rom portion of this application. Despite the fact that I am a multimedia junkie, I just haven't found the need to run the other applications in this suite when there are great and in many cases better freeware alternatives available. Now back to burning rom...

I would have given this application 5-stars six months ago, but then something happened that renderedthe application useless on my system. It burns ok until finalizing the disc, then fails. It is a quad-core system with two burners, and hardware issues have been eliminated. Removal and reinstallation did not help, which gave me a first hand opportunity to contact Nero support.

Let me say right now that Nero support is close to useless. They ask you to run their info tool, which collections a boat-load of info about your system and then upload it to them. But I have my doubts that they even look at it. The support rep just feed me their top solutions to common problems. I had addressed all of their suggestions in my initial e-mail to them, but they had nothing else to offer in the way of troubleshooting or a fix (other than reinstall the OS).

I had to switch to ImgBurn out of necessity and haven't looked back since.

  3. Review - SnagIt

    9.1.1 (Jan 29, 2009)

I use this tool at work on a 2.2Ghz dual-core laptop and the performance is fine. If you just want a simple snapshot tool, then you might consider this bloated, but if you want the the Swiss Army Knife of snapshot software, look no further. Some of the enhanced features, such as the image editor, image format conversion, stamps, etc are a nice touch. Maybe not best of breed, but much better than nothing (which is what I would have if I had to justify the purchase of these features to my IS dept). I'm sure many of you know what I mean.

So I rate this 5-stars for ease of use, performance, stability and the fact that I really need and use this tool every day and am quite satisified with it.

  4. Review - Unlocker

    1.8.6 (Mar 4, 2008)

One advantage of Unlocker over FileAssassin is that it can remove locks on a directory, which apps such as Adobe Photoshop Elements will hold even after the edited file has been closed.

Sure wish the author would find a way to suppot it on Vista64.

  5. Review - Music Label 2010

    14.0 (Aug 17, 2007)

It keeps getting better with every new release. Try it!

  6. Comment - TiVo Lures Subscribers with $100 Rebate

    14.0 (Aug 9, 2004 - 8:07 PM)

"Lifetime" subscription is for the lifetime of the TiVo box, not the subscriber's lifetime.
