  1. Comment - TiVo Series 3 software update adds ads

    (Apr 7, 2009 - 10:37 AM)

What is the point of paying for a service now that we have to deal with ads. I could see if Tivo offered a non paying option and have ads, but if we are paying a monthly or lifetime fee, why should we be subject to watching these ads?

Moxi is starting to look alot better because granted it is more expensive to purchase, but no monthly fees and no advertising. It also has some pretty good features compaired to Tivo. Take a look http://moxi.com/us/home.html
I plan on switching from Tivo to Moxi once I save up enough to purchase it.

  2. Comment - In praise of Windows Media Center

I think WMC is awesome and in Windows 7 is even better. The only thing I wish is that there were more choices for CableCards. It sucks that you can not build your own PC and have support for CableCards. Also, for premade computers (Dell, HP, Sony, ETC...) they should offer more with CableCard support then what they currently offer.

Can't wait till screen shots are released. This sounds interesting.

  4. Comment - Microsoft to replace Live OneCare with 'no-cost' anti-malware

    (Nov 19, 2008 - 9:37 AM)

I agree, the orignal OneCare was not very good, but the 2nd version was a better but still was not worth the price.

This is a great move on Microsoft's end. Granted MS did make a lot of mistakes with Vista, but I think they are making up for it in Windows 7. Granted, Morro will not be bundled with Windows 7, but at least people will have another option besides Norton and McAfee.

  5. Comment - A peek at an early build of the new Win7 taskbar

    (Nov 6, 2008 - 10:51 AM)

Here is a few things that I wanted to share.

I like the idea that Windows 7 will use bluetooth 2.1. Bluetooth 2.1 new stack is natively present in Windows 7. It has faster discovery and easier pairing process.

Also, Windows 7 will have native support for DIVX, XVID, x264 and other popular codecs. If a target device does not support a codec, Windows 7 will transcode it.

They showed a demo between booting a Vista machine and a Windows 7 machine, Windows 7 desktop was much faster available than Vista. In Windows 7, device drivers are loaded in parallel and not serial, also services are started on demand. By doing this, Windows 7 will boot a lot faster then Vista.
