  1. Comment - MS Handheld an iPod and PSP Killer?

So am I a lazy idiot if I watch and play sports?

Harsh statement, considering there are millions of people that enjoy watching sporting events.

  2. Comment - Video iPod Still on Track for Debut?

I would assume so. Although.. the content currently offered is 4:3 I believe, so it will be interesting to see how Apple would optimize a 4" screen to do both (assuming they'll support backward compatibility with this device, which they almost have to).

  3. Comment - Apple Plugs iChat, Safari Security Holes

    (Mar 3, 2006 - 12:01 AM)

I agree. Apple products are absolutely not more prone to holes and worms, and won't be unless Apple gains some serious significant market share, which won't happen any time in the immediate future. Also, there's no difference in the naming something a "patch" or an "update", if they essentially are the same thing. As stated by Kramy, we get preventitive updates, while Microsoft patches their problems on Tuesdays. Seems a little silly to me that people have to wait for a certain date to update their systems. I can recall not too long ago this being a major issue..... :::cough::: WMF exploit :::cough:::

By the time Microsoft patched that issue, there were thousands of variants floating around the internet infecting unsuspecting users' machines. By the time Tuesday rolled around for them, it was too late.

As far as Apple's security threat, it's hard for anyone with intelligence to label Leap.A as a "virus", but Apple has responded in a timely fashion, and not blown it off as a non existant threat, as Microsoft has done so many countless times in the past.

  4. Comment - MTV to Take On MySpace?

    (Mar 2, 2006 - 11:54 PM)

Doesn't Myspace generate more traffic than Google does currently?
Between Myspace, Facebook, and some of the past social networking sites like Friendster, Xanga, and others mentioned in this thread... plus the DOZENS of online dating sites, where does Viacom's CEO honestly feel theres room in this "unsaturated" market for their spin on things?

Truly, I could care less either way, BUT, I do feel they're going to be fighting a losing battle with this one. Reminds me of the way that everyone was POSITIVE that the online music sale market was absolutely open for additional services, yet iTunes still holds over 80% of the users, doesn't look to be losing users anytime soon, and Napster's CEO is now pointing fingers blaming Microsoft for their market presence failure.

Point is, when people find things they like, and invest time into learning a system (especially some of these "emo" kids with their crazy customized profiles), they tend to stick with it.

    Good luck Tom.
