Updates for the purpose of having a new version to sell. Change for the purpose of change. Feature bloat.
I look at all the new versions of UltraEdit, and I have yet to see one that provides a reason to upgrade from the copy of version 12 that I have.
Were I starting out anew, I'd probably look at something else for a text editor.
4.2.1 Beta (Feb 27, 2009)
tech939 - some of us prefer to use a Windows operating system that does not have a remote on/off switch in the guise of WGA, WinSCP works fine on W2K (for the most part), and so long as the developers of WinSCP support W2K, I will continue to use it.
WinSCP is a very good program.

Does this still need Firefox? Yes? Then one star.
I don't have Firefox on my PC, nor do I want Firefox on my PC.

It won't be "another great update" until the browser requirement is removed.
(btw, for every 5 you give the software, I give it a 1 --- that results in a 3 between us. So for every hyped-up 5 you give it, you are actually pulling down the 3.9 rating it has. Think about that...)
3.0 Build 1301 (Jan 4, 2009)
I've been using FoxIt for well over a year. Never saw any adware in this or any previous version.
The other poster must be hallucinating.
3.0 Build 1301 (Aug 10, 2009 - 9:31 PM)
Zune? Is that still a viable product?
3.0 Build 1301 (Jul 29, 2009 - 9:21 PM)
It is not that WGA is "more trouble than it is worth", it is that WGA is a remote "off switch" that Redmond uses to remove my ability to use the software I have purchased.
3.0 Build 1301 (Jul 25, 2009 - 9:05 PM)
The Netflix streaming software that is on the Tivo DVRs is horrible. Very frequent crashes back to the Tivo main menu, often requiring a reboot of the Tivo to recover completely. When one forward queues or back queues a movie or TV episode, the audio and video lose synchronization for the rest of the program. Sometimes the samples frames shown while one is forward queuing a TV episode are not from the episode one is watching.
I don't know what software Tivo is using to perform the Netflix streaming function, but it is of very poor quality.

This article would have actually been useful if there were a sentence or two to expain just what the 10+2 rule entails. As the article stands, it is nothing but a bunch of complaining without saying what the complaining is about.

> The Seinfeld phase of the campaign was an ad about nothing.
No, it was a failure. That it was a failure was admitted by Microsoft's PR team.
The ad campaign is not working out at all as well as Microsoft had hoped, in spite of the extreme attempts here to spin it otherwise.
Microsoft will have returned Apple's volley only when everyone and his brother stop laughing at Windows Vista, not sooner.
