"extremely well", if you have an NTFS system, and are looking for filename-search only, I recommend "Everything search engine" ( http://www.voidtools.com/ ).
That being said, I've tried Locate, and it is quite competent, but I like Everything better -- as I too, search for filenames mostly, and I do not like the out-of-date-database problem nor always-on indexing programs.
4 stars for a well-deserving application.
20070531 rev1220 Beta (Jun 2, 2007)
Excellent tool. First time I tried viewing flv files, I used flvplayer and it didn't support seeking. So I installed this, and now Media Player Classic is the only video player I use.
Does all my DivX/XviD/flv decoding without a hitch.
@ VA: the program works fine. Methinks it's your media player that doesn't doesn't know how to interact with it. Review the program again when your media player works with it. (and no, it's not ffdshow's fault that your media player doesn't work, this program does what it's supposed to do)

An excellent freeware tool -- does everything I need. Easier than the Gimp, IMHO. The GUI beeter matches the Windows GUI.
@ V.A.: crop is found under menu: Image -> Crop to Selection (Ctrl-s***-X)
File -> Acquire gives you the option to read an image from a Scanner of Camera, it works for me with my digicam.

I don't know why everyone has so many problems with Trillian - I've been running Trillian 3 for about a month now and it hasn't crashed, slowed down, or caused any problems since. I use it with Yahoo, MSN and ICQ and there's not a glitch in sight. About every other time I fire it up, it notices me there's an update, downloads that, reinstalls, and runs.
FYI, I'm running the free version since payment is a real problem where I live (Belgium - no, I do not own a credit card).
My only 'problem' with Trillian is that not everything works (yet). So what? This is a *beta* - and you still get a wonderful, beautiful, lightweight messenger.

Ewwww... Double the size AND half the speed AND completely bloated AND I didn't like it anyway -- Blech
If you want an alternative that doesn't suck quite so much (not that hard admittedly), you might want to try GSview (http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/). It requires you to install Ghostscript (same page) but is excellent. May not have all the features like layer-viewing but it's free, and a nice alternative.
I submitted the same review with a 'less than' sign below so it cut the text (d'oh). Not that it matters - this program sucks big time...

Actually, you need to download *another* patch to fix a global exploit -- affects IE? Outlook, Office, Windows, ... The fault lies in the JPEG decoder.
Thus, with IE's track record, Mozilla is still the more secure browser.

I'm not talking about how much memory the programs use, or their speed, I'm simply pointing out the fact that MS Office puts things I haven't asked for in my Start Menu and its Startup folder.
When I install software, I'd like to control just what it puts on my PC.

I haven't downloaded or installed the StarOffice beta, so I wouldn't know quite what you mean with the 'quickstarter', but Microsoft Office puts the "osa.exe" program link in your startup folder by default, along with two shortcuts in your Start Menu (not even in the Programs group), neither of which I've ever felt the need to use.
Preloaded features? No thanks MS Office.
> All in all, I'm impressed with the progress that they have made.

> even ask. For my mozilla, yes, because it at least asks ... either
> I totally missed it or I got that lame butterfly in my system tray
