  1. Review - McAfee AVERT Stinger

    1.9.2 (Nov 16, 2003)

Perfect for the recent worm/virus outbreaks!

  2. Review - Winamp 5 Full

    Beta 1 (Oct 17, 2003)

People like melkor disgust me! The United States is a capitalist country. We shouldn't be so picky about what's free, and what costs money. Software developers do work just like everyone else, and thus they deserve money. You use Winamp, right? You like Winamp, right? Then quit complaining. If you don't like the program, then cite that as your reason for a poor rating. It's really childish of people to expect software (music, etc.) to be free.

And now to my rating. Winamp5 is pretty sweet for its current stage of development. WMP9 is currently my favorite media player, but it doesn't hurt to have competition. Winamp5 will probably redeem itself over Winamp3, which is crap.

  3. Review - AOL Instant Messenger for Windows

    5.5.3415 Beta (Sep 25, 2003)

Trillian is way ahead of AOL IM. I tried to switch to AOL IM and MSN Messenger, but both clients suck compared to Trillian. These two companies will need to dramatically improve their IM clients to convince me to switch back.

  4. Review - jEdit for Windows

    4.2pre3 (Jul 31, 2003)

I'm selecting the neutral rating in order to correct myself. It still deserves a 5, but I meant to say I'm switching from (G)VIM for Windows/Linux to jEdit.

  5. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    7.02 (Jun 26, 2003)

Netscape's a decent browser now, and I prefer it over Mozilla. IE is easily my favorite.

  6. Comment - FCC: It should only take a day to change your phone number

    7.02 (May 15, 2009 - 12:31 PM)

I'll believe it when I see it. My port request for Verizon Wireless in 2005 took a few weeks and another request for Virgin Mobile in 2007 took 4 months; yeah that's right, four months, and during that time the number I wanted to port was useless! There may be a law for this, but how do we as consumers enforce the law?

  7. Comment - Out-of-band security patch addresses critical Windows vulnerability

    7.02 (Oct 23, 2008 - 7:35 PM)

Let's just say that one has bigger problems than this vulnerability if running Windows ME.

  8. Comment - Verizon soon to face the biggest class action lawsuit yet

    7.02 (Jan 29, 2008 - 6:13 PM)

I accidentally terminated my contract 1 day before the end-date, and Verizon automatically charged me the $175 early termination fee. I visited a Verizon store, and was required to call customer service from the store to request the refund. I explained to the customer service person that the $175 fee would prevent my return to Verizon, and he refunded it to me. I am very upset to this day that Verizon tried to pull a fast one on me; and I am upset that the refund was at the customer service person's discretion.

  9. Comment - MTV Kills URGE, Joins Real on Rhapsody

    7.02 (Aug 21, 2007 - 9:34 AM)

I have a long-standing boycott against Real and Apple because of their sh***y A/V formats and crappy software; so it'll be a cold day in he** before I join either of their music stores. It's too bad that Microsoft ever took down MSN Music, because that was the one music store I liked; I was upset when URGE replaced it. Currently I'm using Napster, but I can't say I'm happy about it. Please, someone, open open a feature-rich, artist-rich, easy-to-use, music store that sells high-bitrate MP3s encoded using ABR or CBR.

  10. Comment - Wal-Mart Tests Movie Download Service with All Major Studios

    7.02 (Feb 6, 2007 - 9:49 PM)

Nice debut Wal-Mart (sarcasm)! I purchased The Chappelle's Show, Season 2, Episode 1, and the download hasn't gone past 0%. It's just sitting there. Firewall issue maybe?
