  1. Review - SiSoftware Sandra

    2000.7.6.49 (Jul 19, 2000)

It's pretty good.... not as helpful as it used to be though, and it's a total pain in the behind to try and upgrade this on windows 2000.... it's pretty good but a few flaws..

  2. Comment - Dell's new approach to the Vista migration problem

    2000.7.6.49 (Mar 29, 2008 - 10:08 AM)

Obviously you haven't done a lot of research regarding the changes to vista... Also, it is very obvious if you run an almost 8 year old OS (Vista was released in Oct 2001) on your computer it is going to run a heck of a lot faster than something that is much newer than that!

When I first loaded XP on my system I thought "oh man this is slow" because of the themes service... Obviously the hardware I had wasn't designed for the OS, it was actually labeled as a Windows 2000 compatible machine. Even the first XP branded machines were slow... I didn't see really fast XP machines until about January 2004, by that time the OS was already more than 2 years old.

The OS is a facilatator between your computers hardware and the programs that are running on it, and you will not see a lot of speed enhancements until the programmers start calling some of the new functions and features in Vista.

If you really want to know what is new in Vista, you should check out Mark Russinovich's articles regarding the kernel changes in Vista. There are some really cool things under the hood, the following are the articles he published that I recommend you reading before bashing Vista and saying nothing is new in it:

    http://www.microsoft.com...ues/2007/03/VistaKernel/

And here is an article about UAC which I highly recommend to read before bashing UAC next time... http://www.microsoft.com...tmag/issues/2007/06/UAC/

  3. Comment - Windows Server OS to be Offered on Sun Servers

    2000.7.6.49 (Sep 13, 2007 - 10:14 AM)

What are you talking about??? That's why micorosft builds the OS outside the HAL.

  4. Comment - PS3 Sales Recover in Japan

    2000.7.6.49 (Aug 5, 2007 - 11:17 PM)

    Uhhh, closing the gap???

That's really funny... I would think closing the gap would be like, uhh 10 or 20% off, come on, this is like 1/4 of the amount of Wiis sold... This is a totally BS article. I wonder how much sony is paying betanews for the good publicity.

  5. Comment - TechEd 2007: Virtualization to Become Ninth Server Core Role

    2000.7.6.49 (Jun 8, 2007 - 2:16 PM)

We need .NET in server core... tell me who is going to load up an IIS server when you can't even run .NET code on it? Although the Virtualization is a great job!! Lower footprint & MS virtualization... 1 step closer to winning the competitors market :)

  6. Comment - Windows Server 2008 'The Last 32-bit Operating System'

    2000.7.6.49 (May 17, 2007 - 8:51 AM)

Well, they aren't really telling you that you have to upgrade RIGHT NOW, x64 has been around since '04 and most CPUs and boards have been shipping with the technology since like last year... We all know MS is paving the road to 64-bit and moving both clients and workstations up to 64bit is a really good idea. MS wants to unify the kernels for both clients and servers, and eliminating 32-bit support on both platforms is a great way to do that easier. Also, if you're worried about the next client OS release- if it's anything like vista (and under the new ms stragegy I think it is) you probably won't be upgrading for another 5 years... in which case, even some "7 year old computers" will be able to run the next client OS.
