  1. Review - GetRightToGo

    1.0 Beta 7 (Oct 2, 2006)

It is to let websites like BetaNews have their Download Cart build a list of dozens of files, then have one small download (built by this GetRightToGo tool) that would download all the files from your cart.

Or it could help download CD/DVD sized files with everybody being able to resume, so no broken downloads after a couple hundred MB.

    It's not for adware/spyware.

  2. Review - GetRight Pro

    6.0b (Aug 7, 2006)

Djofull did contact us and we of course resent the code (looking back, the same day he posted this...)

  3. Review - Geek Superhero

    1.1a (Aug 24, 2004)

    (From the author)
Forgot to add in the new stuff, there is a new twin of Geek Superhero: DesktopArmor.com It's exactly the functionality, but without the comic book looks and name. Since the different interface was one of the main complaints, hopefully that will make many people happy!

  4. Review - Geek Superhero

    1.0.2 (Mar 31, 2004)

We worked hard to make Geek Superhero a very useful program--and we think it really is very useful!
But at the same time we wanted something fun and memorable. So we created a character and designed a
unique comic book look for the program. We thought it also helped that the big "Warnings" that come up
looked less intimidating. It took a lot more work to make a unique interface than just go with ordinary Windows.

Yes, it might seem easy enough for a child...and that's the point. A kid or their grandmother needs
as much protection for their computer as a security expert...probably more protection since they're
the ones likely to run any email attachment, etc.

Thanks to the web, people have become used to things looking different...every website has a different look. Why not programs :)
As long as a button looks like something you can click and a checkbox looks like a checkbox,
people figure it out pretty easily. MP3 players take it to the extreme, every one has a very different look.

You can of course turn off all the graphics and use plain old Windows (which is especially vital for visually impaired people using Screen-Readers).
There's a check on the "Options" tab to turn off all the fancy graphics.

  5. Comment - 41% of Facebook Users Give Personal Data to Green Plastic Frog

    1.0.2 (Aug 14, 2007 - 3:47 PM)

Well the concern is that name, birthday and your mother's maiden name is enough to do some identity theft. That's often the question banks and credit card companies ask when verifying your identity over the phone.

  6. Comment - Florida Democrat Loss Could Trigger Hearings on Voting Machines

    1.0.2 (Dec 21, 2006 - 1:56 PM)

I watched part of a documentary recently (on HBO I think). They showed the actual voting machines in action, with the real voting officials (ones who were worried about miscounts.)

In their test, they demonstrated it by messing with one small piece of equipment (a small cartridge sort of thing that plugs into the machine, so was easy to take away and hack). Starting one candidate out at -5 and the other out at +5 before the voting even started. All the vote counts and checks showed OK, but the end result was fixed.

A real election would be -1000s and +1000s...but the fact that one person could fix the whole election with the electronic machines, with no backup papertrail is scary.

  7. Comment - Linksys iPhone Announcement Gets Attention

    1.0.2 (Dec 19, 2006 - 2:30 PM)

I don't think Apple has any standing at all to go to court. Cisco had the trademark and iPhone product back as far as 2000...Apple wishing they had the trademark won't cut it--it doesn't matter who has the deepest pockets, Apple would lose anything they tried in court.

  8. Comment - Microsoft Matches iPod Price for Zune

    1.0.2 (Sep 28, 2006 - 1:03 PM)

For the most part, people who to legally buy music online already have an iPod & use iTunes.

Unless MS can give people the entire library of whatever they've bought thru iTunes, there's not much incentive to change.

  9. Comment - Apple Announces Switch to Intel Chips

    1.0.2 (Jun 7, 2005 - 12:44 PM)

I think this might be a great thing for Apple. As a Windows developer, I never before would have bought a Mac, but recognized they always had the coolest looking computers :)

If they make it easy to install dual-boot, and maybe down the road even installing Windows Whatever on it as an option at the factory...I'd buy one of those. Even if it's a little more than a comparable Dell or other PC...a few hundred more to be able to run Windows and OSX on one box, I bet a lot of people and businesses would buy that.
