Twenty six bucks a year to get the new artwork? Ha!!! Nope. And why would you sign up for a lifetime subscription, so they can come out with a Platinum membership next year? Sad to see a good program go down.

  6. Comment - Microsoft Reloads Windows XP

    Beta Build 1452 (Mar 4, 2004 - 7:09 AM)

I'm sure it will turn out to be another ME; not only a waste of money with no substance, as has been said, but also a mostly unusable and completely bug ridden version like ME. Microsoft sometimes likes to test the "sucker born every minute" theory with releases like this one.

  7. Comment - 'Security Center' Planned for Windows XP SP2

    Beta Build 1452 (Mar 2, 2004 - 10:20 PM)

Microsoft is boring. Their browser is archaic (and boring). Their OS follies seem simply aimed at DRMing everything for their entertainment buddies. Heck, they can't even get a service pack out the door on time! Gates is out trying to drum up new computer students because he leads an industry that gets more boring everyday, mostly because he has been busy sucking the innovation right out of it. No doubt Longhorn will finally fulfill Bill's dream of taking control of the computer out of the user's hands. Of course, the users will then take the computers oiut of their hands and Gates will be ruler of nothing. And speaking of boring, why is Mr. Gates still so obsessed with maintaining his boring monopoly with his subpar products and stolen ideas. The old man really needs to decide he has enough money and let somebody run MS who wants to do something creative.

Frankly, all the interesting stuff in computing right now is coming from Linux, AMD and Mozilla. The rest of it is just so much BS.

  8. Comment - 'Security Center' Planned for Windows XP SP2

    Beta Build 1452 (Feb 29, 2004 - 2:11 PM)

That with windows it's always, "It WILL do this, it WILL do that." and most of the time it never does. So what's the current release date for the latest WILL? April? May? 2005?

Microsoft and Intel.....land of the WILL do!

  9. Comment - IE Security Flaw Upsets Microsoft Patch Schedule

    Beta Build 1452 (Dec 18, 2003 - 8:02 AM)

That is the major reason that Microsoft's proposal that bugs only be reported to the vendor will never fly. Time and time again, bugs have been reported to Microsoft only to have them take weeks, even months to acknowledge the existence of the bug and try to come up with a fix. When the bugs are released at large, possible solutions and workarounds are available much sooner. Microsoft has not acted responsibly enough to demand that bugs be reported only to them.

  10. Comment - Phoenix Sounds Death Knell for BIOS

    Beta Build 1452 (Nov 27, 2003 - 10:08 AM)

There are many who believe that Phoenix, with their next gen BIOS, and Microsoft, with Palladium, plan to decrease user control of the PC to an almost meaningless level. It's pretty obvious that there are those who would like to see computing and the internet controlled much like TV was by three networks for decades. If this happens, my current aging hardware will may be the last I buy.
