  1. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v2)

    1.0.6 (Jul 20, 2005)

the only thing lacking is the speedy responsiveness and some of the features of Opera. But, it largely makes up for it with Extensions from https://addons.mozilla.org

Adblock http://adblock.mozdev.org with ad-filters from http://www.pierceive.com are ESSENTIAL for your sanity on the web - an absolutely addictive must-have you will not know how you lived without. The NoScript extension and FlashGot extension (the most popular extension for Firefox on https://addons.mozilla.org) are some more essentials.

The great extensions and support for the latest web standards (ever tried coding for IE's CSS inadequacies?) make this browser the best.

1.0.5 was working great with all the Extensions I had installed, and this seems to be a fix for some Extension(s) that didn't like the new changes. So far so good. All in all, a far superior browser to Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Partner it with Thunderbird (Mozilla's email client) for the one-two punch.

  2. Comment - Plug-In Raises Firefox Security Doubts

    1.0.6 (Jul 19, 2005 - 6:48 PM)

testing = time, money. Firefox Certified (tm) fees much like Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL), which we know means nothing in the real world. Would bog everything down all for the sake of a few rotten apples that can be had from installing Extensions (which can and will happen with certification anyway), and would delay useful and great extensions (and extension updates) into the bureacracy. No thanks, I'd rather have my Extensions unfiltered and uncertified, but certainly informed of any breach in security if it has been found.

I personally found 'hidden' files (not seen in Explorer) with SpaceMonger, a free disc-space utility. Yes, Microsoft is hiding all your cleared URL history & Outlook mails in various files and it's unlistable and unsearchable in regular Windows Explorer. Yes, even when you clear your cache and delete your mails. There's no magic or misleading anything there. You can test it yourself; this has been known for quite some time.
