  1. Review - McAfee VirusScan for Windows

    7.0 (Oct 1, 2002)

I don't believe that McAfee deserves a 5 rating let alone this 2 rating I am giving them. Quite funny how Klez virus was UNDETECTED in an email attachment. And yes, my virus definitions were updated.

I'd be wary of their products, just because one person says it's good, you're the minority out of the general population. Once your company has a bad rep, it sorta sticks.

Thesoftwarecorner.com will have a full review on McAfee AV 7, and some other products too. thesoftwarecorner.com

  2. Comment - Apple uses DMCA as a weapon against an open source iTunes hack

    7.0 (Nov 27, 2008 - 8:45 AM)

You could also make the argument that Apple has not released iTunes for the Linux crowd and that ties them into either their own system Apple OS or that of a competitors Windows for the sake of purchasing songs.

Apple was already on the hook for making people purchase a Mac to use their iPod when they first came out.

  3. Comment - Microsoft Opens Windows Source Code

    7.0 (Jan 25, 2006 - 2:18 PM)

Yes I'll give credit to Microsoft that DirectX was an immense step forward when it came to gaming. OpenGL has gone quite far in itself as well.

As far as drivers are concerned, I don't think companies like the WHQL where they say get the drivers certified or we won't install.

Apple did not fail. If you shall recall Bill Gates stole DOS and the idea of windows and GUI.

There is not a problem if more than 1 OS existed. Linux is getting more popular because it is more secure. Windows is What You See Is What You Get operating system.

There are no problems with the majority of hardware in Linux. Linux runs on different architectures while Windows cannot. You won't see anyone trying to run windows on an ipod.

If gaming for PCs did not get popular hardware would not advance the way it did for the past 5 years. If you would exlcude gaming from any OS, Windows would not be as popular.

You're a software developer, its quite pathetic how 1 track minded you are when it comes to computers. The only thing that is keeping Apple down on PC's is Jobs' stupidity to make its own computers with Intel.

Believe me when it comes to user friendliness and security Apple kills Windows hands down. Then again OS X is based on BSD which is a derivate of Unix.

  4. Comment - Microsoft Opens Windows Source Code

    7.0 (Jan 25, 2006 - 1:31 PM)

Do you people know how to read? Or even had a computer for more than a year? I mean look at you people bashing EU and saying if I were MSFT I wouldn't do this.

Do you know how many companies they put out of business? They only released the source code for the networking internals which is something that could be improved. Open source does not cause security problems.

Think of how many exploits would have been fixed if source code for Internet Explorer was open.

Yes they did spend billions and look at who wanted software patents. MSFT who is trying to kill the industry.

Whats next the US Govt putting a ban on Foreign cars because people buy them more than American made cars?

  5. Comment - RIAA Pressures Russia Over Piracy

    7.0 (Dec 27, 2005 - 4:05 PM)

In Russia, RIAA pirates you. Since when does RIAA have world powers?

I'm surprised that RIAA didn't sue the Bush gov't for illegally taping phone calls. What will RIAA do stop selling CDs? Big deal.

If people would stop using IE as their main browser and Outlook Express as their main email client it would drop those numbers down.

Another problem is that people just click on the link in the email where OE does not show you the address at the bottom of the program other email clients do so people obviously know why the link address is funny looking to them.
