  1. Review - Altap Salamander Standard

    2.5 Beta 6 (Oct 1, 2004)

Best file manager ever; beyond my wildest dreams, now using 7z archiving if necessary. Many plugins. More powerful than the sys-admins dare ever think possible (don't tell them!). Easily networks, very highly configurable. Not sure how to see the "tree" in one window-pane, but might try reading the docs one day. Except for very old, non-networked systems, I still have a Floppy-disk NC-clone.

  2. Comment - Court dismisses claim Google Street View invades folks' privacy

    2.5 Beta 6 (Feb 18, 2009 - 7:41 PM)

Interesting if there are limits ti using Infra-red cameras, overhead (sky-view) cameras (eg kites, unmanned & manned balloons/ aircraft) and the resolution of these cameras: enough to see the pre-make face of a famous personality.

Since Australia now has many copyright compatibilities with the USA (open-trade, etc), it's be interesting to see if this is now to see if this ruling applies in Australia.

  4. Comment - At last, a miniature USB cable for handsets is at hand

    2.5 Beta 6 (Feb 18, 2009 - 7:34 PM)

There are already several micro-USB "standards. Nokia has an Oval pulg-socket, usually without Phone recharger. Others have a D-shape, with two sharp corners, with or without power supply.

    Why the three year wait?

Lots of cynical, pessimistic whiners here! Are you all literally INSANE, MAD? Barbie Doll has come to twon (or the planet Earth) for real. Check out the lyrics of the Barbie Doll song.

The uneducated commentators so far do not know that the official definition of "Open" society is constantly evolving. Under Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM) 1, 2, 3, 3R & now 4, various human conditions have been considered "mad". Your phobia about Openness will listed as a mental sickness in DSM 5 or 6.

Interesting flame war so far from junior workers (ex-workers?) in the micro-micro industries. Microsoft's success was getting the CEO of the biggest sugared-water supplier in the world, to run the financially-successful, corrupt, illegal, immoral company known internationally as "Microsoft": look at the many national & international successful prosecutions against Microsoft.

Originally I went DR-DOS, TOS (Atari ST), before being forced to Vista. M$'s "mistakes" were having faulty BIOS's, and allowing copy cats to assist its ascension into planetary dominance. Apple's mistakes was in NOT allying with imitators, copy cats, and staying with the 68000 CPUs. If they grabbed the "ethics", "morality" and "illegallity" of M$, then I'd be with them again.

The history of the demise and death of Apple is still being written; not by myself in silly, childish flame wars, but by the planet at large.

Apple people to me, seem more honest, more innocent, less corrupt, more simply-minded. Like the lastest 1/ 2/ 3 / 4 /5 (? very confusing) button mouse that's on the current lines of Apples.
