  1. Review - Opera for Windows

    9.0 Build 8031 Technology Preview 1 (Nov 2, 2005)

Interesting that Velocition managed to find one single feature Firefox had first, when Opera had all other features before Firefox. Good for you! But it doesn't change the facts.

And guess what, sophist_dreams, the fact that sites work or break depending on what you set Opera to identifies means that it's the site's browser sniffing that discriminates against Opera, not that Opera can't handle them.

A comment like "It does not adhere to industry standards for html" indicates to me that this is a person who has not been around on the net for a very long time. Especially in light of the above comment about browser identification!

And finally, don't mind the Firefox fanboy httpd.confused who is desperate because Opera beats Firefox, hands down.

Opera: Smaller, faster, more functional than Firefox.

The "middle finger" httpd.confused made conveniently ignores the fact that this means that paying users will never have to pay for an upgrade again, and that this will lead to more users and thereby more webmasters testing their sites with Opera, which benefits even those who have paid in the past.

Not to mention the fact that one can ask for a refund.

But hey, don't let facts get in the way of FUD...

  2. Comment - Opera Browser Takes to the Skies

You can't get away from the fact that you called Opera a spyware company. You could have written "adware company", although that would have been wrong too.

Opera's business models isn't ads. It's selling software.

"I clearly stated that It was amazing that an AD/spyware company made it that far."

See, now you are being dishonest again.

You just said so yourself: You claimed that Opera was spyware, which it wasn't. Opera never spied on its users.

Opera is a browser company, not an "ad/spyware company". It never was an "ad/spyware company". Ads are not and were not Opera's business model. They sell software, not ads.

"Ad/spyware" is not a software category. You are just trying to save face after making a fool of yourself by claiming that Opera was spyware.

Everyone else knows that you said "ad/spyware company", and that was deceptive, dishonest and misleading, and claiming that Opera contained spyware.

Opera was never unsafe to begin with, so you are being deceptive, dishonest and misleading with your comments.

Opera showed ads, but it did not come bundled with adware/spyware.

Also, adware isn't necessarily spyware. If it only has ads and does not spy on the user, it is not spyware, and not malware.

  5. Comment - Opera: Browser Downloads Surging

    9.0 Build 8031 Technology Preview 1 (Oct 6, 2005 - 7:17 AM)

Er... Does not compute. SBC Yahoo's browser is a bloated mess of buttons and toolbars.

And you think Opera and FF have TOO MANY "GADGETS"?

    LOL.

"which will never happen as long as opera continues to break pages that display fine in ie and firefox."

Funny, that. Firefox breaks on a lot more pages than Opera.
