  1. Review - MediaCoder

    0.6.0.3792 (Jul 4, 2007)

This is a fantastic application; superior in usability than GXTranscoder (e.g. it actually does the job).

In my situation I wanted to transcode MP3s to AAC files for my mobile phone. The memory card on my phone nearly had its small 2GB capacity taken up by MP3s, and I wanted more space but not to lose the files. I also didn't want the hassle of having to remove the files from the m2 memory stick first. Choosing the files was simplicity itself, just choosing the drive and directory where the MP3s are stored and choosing folder recursion finds all the files. Picking the format to transcode to also was simple. In the configurations is an option to delete the original file after its transcoded, so this I enabled and then I started the operation. I was prompted for confirmation that I was aware the original would be deleted, which of course was perfect. I now have 1.5GB of space free for more music.

  2. Review - Windows Media Player for Windows XP (32-bit)

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Aug 31, 2006)

A great improvement from WMP11 Beta 1. The library is instantly accessible, no 30 second pause when scrolling around. A few graphical changes, but nothing major in this revision.

It still doesn't remember what was playing last, like WMP10 did, which is a shame.

  3. Comment - HTC Touch Pro goes for market ubiquity

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Nov 24, 2008 - 4:03 PM)

I've had my Touch Pro on T-Mobile(UK) for a couple of months now, and I still love it. Usually I would have some complaints as after using other phones for a while I usually do, but not so far.

There's plenty of free software that takes advantage of it specifically, and free WinMo software in general. There is also a lot of helpful people at the xda-developers forum.

  4. Comment - Sprint confirms it's adding two HTC Touches to its 3G arsenal

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Sep 11, 2008 - 4:04 PM)

I've got a Touch Pro on T-Mobile(UK). It's a very nice phone, even after a couple of hours with the slide out keyboard I don't think I could go back to using T9. Although the on screen keyboard (of which there are 5 layouts!) is nice for short messages, nothing beats the speed of the physical keyboard.

Really nice phone, I couldn't recommend it more.

  5. Comment - MySpace cuts the ribbon on its third-party App Gallery

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Apr 24, 2008 - 4:03 PM)

I can't imagine how it could make MySpace worse, but I expect it will, somehow.

  6. Comment - MS: Want Windows Live Messenger? Pay.

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Dec 21, 2005 - 8:12 AM)

    Hey jjarmak!
Microsoft are not demanding payment for Windows Live Messenger, users who have invites are selling them. Apparently they deem the beta good enough to try and make some money from it, which if I were Microsoft I'd be pretty chuffed about.
Did you actually read the article? Of course not; that would require more than two brain cells to rub together, when you only need one to bash Microsoft.
    Get a clue!

  7. Comment - Apple Finally Unveils Video iPod

    11.0.5705.5043 Beta 2 (Oct 12, 2005 - 3:30 PM)

It's official. At an event in San Jose Wednesday, Apple ended months of speculation by introducing the first video-enabled iPod, moving the company into the portable media center space.

"Yes, it does video," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in his keynote address as the audience showered each other in semen.
