1.0 Build 51114 Beta (Dec 2, 2005)
It's a nice little program that does what it's said to do. This program is NOT meant to deal with photos in any useful way. 90% of its purpose is to give a slight preview of what's to come in Vista. The other 10% is to play with the photos. The graphics and design of it are very nice, though.
1.0.2 Final (Nov 22, 2005)
It gets an A for presentation (it is a good looking program), but the AOL Explorer bundling, resource hogging, among other things make it a 3.
2006 Beta (Aug 15, 2005)
Well, it looks very nice, with a few new features that should make things easier to use and understand. There's a Security Center (similar to Windows Security Center) that shows all current errors or possible problems and gives you an easy fix for them. This Security Center is also built into the system tray with a toaster popup that means you don't have to open the program to see problems, but also probably uses more resources.
It looks like the NIS 2006 Beta is not listed on the Symantec website just yet. Hopefully it'll be up in the next two days so I can get that security key.
2006 Beta (Apr 2, 2008 - 7:28 PM)
Anybody have 1.0 and want to use an invitation? Thanks!
2006 Beta (Mar 19, 2008 - 7:41 PM)
That is amazing! Brilliant!
2006 Beta (Jan 2, 2008 - 8:54 PM)
General TV manufacturers:
Sony recently announced their withdrawal from the rear projection market. How soon until RPs are fully replaced by flat-panels (including coming down in price) and flat-panels replaced by a new technology (i.e. OLED) as the premium option?
For Microsoft and PC manufacturers:
The Windows XP Media Center PC was a huge deal when it was first release and is probably one of Microsoft's more successful products of late. However, without having an exclusive edition in Vista, it's a bit hidden. Does (and if so, how) does Microsoft and hardware OEMs plan to better place Media Centers in the living room where they can be truly successful (aside from the few niche manufacturers who already do)?
2006 Beta (Sep 14, 2006 - 6:12 PM)
I am actually wondering the same thing. To me, it sounds like an Expose-type add-on that does in fact come with the hardware. I'm very interested to see what that's all about.
2006 Beta (Aug 10, 2006 - 2:58 PM)
Actually, it will be optimized to use DirectX-10, which will only be in Vista. Thus, it is optimized for Vista, although it will run on XP.
