  1. Review - RNA Server Edition

    1.0 Beta Build 1178 (Jan 20, 2004)

Install Shield is not operating correctly. It is looking for a file reference that is not there. You might want to check your installer on a different machine or network to see the error. It is probably a bad variable in the setup.

  2. Review - Microsoft Winter Fun Pack

    2003 (Nov 13, 2003)

The install experience is a vast improvement over last year's Packs. They have dumped the bloated Install Shield for Wise and it shows. I also am impressed with the cross-promotion of the packs. It's good to see that the headless chicken syndrome is going away.

  3. Review - EvilLyrics

    0.0.2 Beta (May 7, 2003)

It's funny, but almost all of the songs I listen to have the same lyrics.

  4. Review - RemotelyAnywhere Workstation Edition

    4.10.285 (Apr 2, 2002)

Not a bad program at all. There is a bug that will cause your port forwarding settings to disappear if you use the back button on the "Add" a setting screen. This happens even if you save the settings. So be careful if you use this feature.

  5. Comment - Sun Selected to Power Desktops in China

    4.10.285 (Nov 25, 2003 - 11:09 AM)

Please refer to last week's article in US News & World Reports, "Microsoft makes nice in China" http://www.usnews.com/us...124/biztech/24china.htm

"Last month, Beijing put Windows under the magnifying glass for the first time. China says it wants to make sure Windows does not contain "back doors," or security holes, that could give spies, competitors, or hackers access to Chinese databases and national secrets."

"The Chinese lottery, the post office system, and Guangdong province's accounting system all use Linux. IBM is working with Beijing to put China's social security system on Linux, a huge data undertaking. And Chinese Linux software companies are even luring native programmers back from Silicon Valley. More important, since 1999 the Middle Kingdom has endorsed its own version of Linux called Red Flag, and in a widely watched August announcement, the Procurement Center of the State Council mandated that by year's end only computers with Chinese-produced software would be purchased by the government."

  6. Comment - Microsoft Offers Bounty on Virus Writers

    4.10.285 (Nov 7, 2003 - 2:03 AM)

thank you for yet another generalized, uninformed statement - providing this page with more scrollable real estate. You deserve to be patched as well.

    heh.. someone patch this guy.

  8. Comment - Microsoft Offers Bounty on Virus Writers

    4.10.285 (Nov 6, 2003 - 11:15 AM)

Exactly the same experience. That obscure ftp port is wide open on fresh installs, and that virus lives on someone's machine in that big DSL network. I couldn't event get the patches downloaded to fix it. It took awhile to get the machine back to 'normal'.

  9. Comment - Microsoft Alters IE Due to Patent Ruling

    4.10.285 (Oct 9, 2003 - 2:12 PM)

    /agrees resolutely

the patent process is in horrible need of revision.
