I'm sure it would be wonderful if it worked, but yes, it seems it does need Postscript compatibility. It correctly recognised, but printed (postscript) gibberish on my network HP Officejet, and couldn't find my Epson Laser on a print server.

Used to be an Outpost fan, but this slows my machine so that my new quad-core with 3GB of RAM feels exactly like my 7 year old Athlon with 1GB.
12.0.4017.1004 CTP1 (May 17, 2006)
This worked for me this morning where it hadn't before. And I played with it (on WinXP Pro) for a while. Seems promising. Certainly makes me want to spend more time with it.

I've tried to install on a real XP Pro SP2 and a virtual machine running Server 2003 and nothing happens for me either

I've just started using Thunderbird after 10 years on Pegasus (and a short spell of frustration with Outlook, which, while it does a lot, seems a bit like a Supertanker in its weight and the time it takes to turn things around). I like Thunderbird a lot. It seems similarly powerful to Pegasus. Its search capabilities (with a 10-year archive) are much faster; and its html rendering is much better for those messages which insist on html. It will, of course, turn off graphics and links if you wish. I'm sticking around for a bit longer. I like the plug-ins, too for the bits that aren't so good, like alternative signatures, and attachment handling.

I was a Wordperfect fan all the way from 4.2, but I've finally given in and gone with MS Office 2003. Nothing has changed in WordPerfect since version 10 except for a few bug fixes. And it looks so out of date, too (silly, but it all contributes).
