Im still using version 4.3 pro on Vista Ultimate through Firefox. Works like a charm! I tried a 5.1 pro version and didnt like how it "dumbed" things down. All the the "new features" listed for version 5.1 are currently already available in 4.3 (except for the improved IE7 integration).

I am rating the product a "5" because there is no option to rate version comparisons... which I would only give this version a "3"

Wonderful program for those who want to have a simple home http/ftp/php/mysql/mail server which they can install and run without any headaches of getting all the programs to work well together.

Also perfect the noobs who like to have something working, tinker a bit with it to learn how it works and what features do what... giving a "noob" the tools to turn him into a self-taught webmaster.

Also, does not install onto Vista, if you are looking to run TiVo Desktop on Vista, check out the earlier version, 2.3a.

When running, a notification Icon is always displayed in the Notification area - in windows, you may set this icon to "always hide", but when you reboot windows, that setting will be lost and it will re-appear again (TiVo desktop bug.)

File transfers from TiVo S2 to PC's 80211.g are 2Mb/s (to TiVo) and 4Mb/s (from TiVo) at +80% wireless connection status, while downloads from my internet provider (TimeWarner) are usually 8Mb/s & 12Mb/s. Which means that TiVo to PC takes about 45min for 1hr program - and PC to TiVo takes about 1.5hr for 1hr program... on 802.11g using TiVo Wireless G USB Network Adapter to Linksys Wireless G WRT54G v3.2 w/Tomato 1.04 firmware and Intel Gigabit 10/100 PCI card on fresh install of WinXP. Fastest transfer times obtained when TiVo S2 is paused in a pre-recorded program.

I did read the article and still found errors that a spell-check could have corrected. I also did not see any links included within the article. So what's your point?

That's two things which would improve Betanews...

A spell checker
and a few links to source press-releases or even company websites.

BTW, the link I posted is from when C-Net.com reported that DIGEO was going head-to-head with TiVo..... back in September 26, 2006 (So does that mean that Betanews is spewing OLD news too???)

...filled with spelling errors (as usual) and no real in depth details for technical readers of this site (are there really any "techies" who actually read betanews.com for it's journalism?)

Cliff-notes are fine for those who don't care to be informed - but by calling yourself a NEWS site, why not at least deliver the news?

Again, BetaNews displays it's superior reporting skills... Do you have a link to the new version of MSN Mobile or even to the Microsoft press release?

Your story the way it is now, is not really anything more than a commentary - which is not so much news - since it isnt actually giving the reader what he needs to know to make the reading useful.
