  1. Review - RegCleaner

    3.7.1.635 (Dec 20, 2000)

This program is the best I have ever used. But you MUST know what registry entries you can delete without harmful sideeffects for your OS. So, the best is to look for programs you once used but eventually uninstalled. All program entries of programs you do not use anymore can be safely deleted. If you observe these rules you will find this program to work perfectly.

  2. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    6.0 Final (Nov 17, 2000)

They fixed the RAM bug which caused Previev 3 to consume up to 55 MB of RAM and more. Now N6 takes way about 25 MB RAM. Much better, but still twice as much as IE 5.5 SP1. However, give N6 a try. It is not very fast, if you compare it to IE 5.5. But on the other hand it is smoother, easier and nice. But beware of a major bug: You cannot use proxy configuration scripts. They will not work with N6. It was one of the first new bugs discovered. Because this bug is a really awful one and because N6 is still slower than IE 5.5 I give it only a 2.

  3. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    6.0 Preview Release 3 (Nov 10, 2000)

Nice preview but I cannot and do not want to use it. It consumes up to 55 MB RAM on my Windows 2000 192 MB RAM system. My system ended up with only 13 MB RAM left before I escaped Netscape. My IE 5.5 SP1 only needs 12 MB RAM. So, you see the difference. Netscape has to fix this RAM bug before I will use it again.

  4. Review - Net Vampire Pro

    4.0 Beta (Nov 2, 2000)

One of the best download manager. Not overloaded with unnecessary features, only basic ones that everybody needs. It can even handle difficult tasks like downloads from redirecting sites. It recogneizes 400 and 404 errors and can download from https sites. However NetVampire does not use segmenting (splitting a file in two or more parts and downloading it simultaneously). But this feature could make a zip-file corrupt. I noticed this problem several times in GetRight. NetVampire finds the fastest site by using several seartch engines and it tests the true speed of every site.

Conclusion: A good download manager, that does everything it should, without the bugs of GetRight. It is Adware! but you have the option to register the program for 15 bucks. It is worth far more. if you do not, you will see ads in the program window.
