    1.1.0.9 Beta 2 (Jul 19, 2006)

Joe shmoe home user isnt an ISP, therefore he wouldnt be allowed the same protections as one. Like i said, many ISPs completely ban this type of activity (unless its under the table)

Think about it, Someone from the FBI comes knocking at your door saying wheres this computer with kiddie porn on it? You say "sorry, it must have been someone using my wifi which i intentionally set up for use by anyone."
they say "oh, ok. Darn we missed him. Oh well, better luck next time." Ok maybe you wouldnt get arrested, but i doubt the ISP which they would inevitably contact for info on your activity would appreciate knowing that you're using your service improperly (reselling or sharing between houses) and would most likely send you a cease and desist order, or simply kill your acct for violation of TOS. In any case, who would want to set themselves up for that kind of trouble?

This product is doomed to failure due to its legality issues.... Do you really want to be the guy who split the internet bill with the guy across the street, who just so happens to collect copious amounts of illegal material, and have it come back to YOU ONLY because you are LEGALLY responsible for the account and not HIM? I mean granted, those you share with would likely be someone you know and trust, but lets face it, some of your friends may be thieves, scam artists, and pedophiles, and you'd never know it till they get caught. You could SAY that he's the one who distributed the material, and they might just arrest him as well, but that wouldnt release your responsibility since you are accountable for the use of your connection (which may or may not be illegal to resell in the first place, even if it is off the books)
Interesting idea? yes. But put into practice, it could become someone's worst legal nightmare.

This reminds me of an article not too long ago about an internet service that gives you a free router, provided that you share the connection with anyone in the area. Again, who wants to be the one who gets ****ed over legally because the nice guy across the street hacked into the FBI database?
    Nice software? maybe
Monumentally stupid thing to do? Most definitely....

Dont be surprised if this company is forced to remove their product from the market in the future.

Not to say this program is "bad"..... but due to recent changes in windows update, programs like this might come in handy for many....

  4. Comment - Is Microsoft's Mojave Vista experiment backfiring with users?

    August 2005 (Aug 1, 2008 - 3:02 AM)

Sorry, but Windows Vista is not an "ultrafail"..... I hate this "Blog-style" reporting.... News stories are supposed to report the facts, not make asinine statements based on "popular opinion."

U call THIS "news?" I call it UltraFUD.

  5. Comment - Can Microsoft Make Vista More Compelling?

Vista is not the problem in your case.... its your pc's crappy drivers, for the most part. Drives dont disappear on systems with good drivers. Unless they die, of course :-p

    August 2005 (Oct 8, 2007 - 6:39 AM)

Nah, a lot of things cause random crashes in xp.... video issues, IE issues... yes, they're generally program crashes and not BSODs, but theyre craashes nonetheless. I have not seen an increase in frequency of crashes between xp and Vista. Havent really seen a decrease either, but we ARE talking about Windows here... the typical pattern of windows releases are that they improve in some areas and decline in others. *shrugs*

"constant reboots?" heh... maybe on your system... i reboot *maybe* once a week, usually less often.

"Doesn't handle ram well?" why, because the task manager says vista is using all your ram? Heh...
