6.0 Preview Release 3 (Oct 5, 2000)
Well the latest mozilla won't even run on my system under W2k, although, anything else will. Will Netscrape do any better??? Not Likely.
1.47r (Sep 10, 2000)
ZTree for Windows is a 32 bit file management utility which is the logical successor to XTreeGold(tm). With enhancements in keeping with, but far beyond the functions of its predecessor, this program is simply the most powerful file manager around. A Primarily Keyboard based non-GUI file manager has an unbelievable advantage in speed, function & sophistication over the typical mouse driven GUI. Most of the people who use ZTree are professionals who need and use those functions daily and are willing to put in the time and effort necessary to learn the interface. Once that interface is mastered the rewards are immense and you'll never want to use anything else. Promise.
1.46 Beta 5 (Sep 10, 2000)
It should be mentioned that this beta includes MAPI ability. Nice touch. And, yes next time we'd like to see a news reader; but as a mail program this shure beats whatever else is out there.
Build 5.1.0.1531 (Aug 27, 2000)
Yet another spyware program. Becoming all too common these days. I notice that another reviewer, Jaykul, is recommending another skinning program which is (you guessed it!) spyware. Children, I'd avoid these like the plague. Believe me, Big Brother already knows too much about you.
5.0 Beta 13 (Aug 17, 2000)
This is a copy of the letter that I sent to Eudora concerning the beta 5.x.
There is no doubt in my mind that Qualcomm has a fine product in Its Eudora mail program. I've been tempted to switch to it in the past and never so much as now with V5. I really like the interface. I've been bashing it around in a single user environment and I can't find any significant bugs.
In spite of what I've just said, there are two reasons that I would never use Eudora as my mail program. I have limited confidence that you'll listen to this, but here goes....
1. Lack of compatibility with the Address database
It would seem that after all these years that someone would come up with the radical idea of putting the contact / address information in an industry standard DBF type format. Then it could be hot linked to other applications and become really useful. Yes you can do that with a text based file but the security & complexity of linking are more difficult. I'd also think that it would be easier for you guys to program for. As it stands this (linking) is certainly possible with The Eudora address book, but I personally don't think it's worth the effort.
Conceder that MS has resolved most of these address book linking problems within their own proprietary scheme (but then they own the operating system). Then conceder who would really be ahead by espousing an open DBF format address book system. Considering the design of the rest of your program; I'd really like to see you be the first ones to do it.
2. No link with the phone dialer
This is a simple one guys. Just use the dialer in Windows. I had this feature on my first DOS address database in the early 90'S I'm now addicted to it and can't do without it. While I realize that this would be of limited value in a large networked environment, I don't think that your making any friends on the standalone. This also goes back to point 1.. The whole idea of a contact database is to enter the information once and then use it in as many ways as possible. Right now that's difficult if not impossible.
I hope you're listening, I'd certainly someday like to use your product. As I said before, I think that otherwise in V5 you have a product which is already very marketable. Thanks for listening and Good Luck.
5.0 Beta 13 (Sep 20, 2000 - 1:53 AM)
Try something way under a dollar. In bulk probably 10-20 cents. Now how do you feel?
5.0 Beta 13 (Aug 31, 2000 - 6:58 PM)
I tried an earlier version of this thing. It's pretty (mindless). But then I guess that it's advertised as such. The great nubie experence.
5.0 Beta 13 (Aug 9, 2000 - 10:07 AM)
Just so your aware that IE 5.5 is a disaster on Win2K. It takes MS to break MS.
5.0 Beta 13 (Aug 9, 2000 - 9:58 AM)
Maybe. It sure didn't work for me.
