    I have been or board with Ubuntu since 6.06 and **never** could get a WLAN (wifi) connection with the Acer inboard WLAN adapter. I always used a USB adapter which worked well enough in the coffee shops and libraries. That is, until Karmic Koala. Somebody has created a universal WLAN adapter that works with the most recent Linux kernel. Right on, Ubuntu! Humanity towards all!
