ISSUE: BIG UPDATE PROBLEMS
Even though this program is highly rated, I hate it because with my experience in updating this very troublesome program, and with Avira, their parent company's failure in fixing the ridiculous server problems with their updates.
I have installed this program on many PCs, in many different locations, all with high speed connections. After every installation, I had problems updating this program. It would take 30 minutes or longer to update, or sometimes never.
I checked their forums, and many users have been having my exact problems, for many months, and yet lazy Avira has not fixed this huge problem.
Shame on Avira.
6.1.0.447 (Jul 28, 2009)
Extremely slow.
It maybe effective at cleaning spyware, but it is not a keeper as it brings even a fast PC to its knees.
PC Tools must and should work on this program to lighten its load and speed up its operation and needed resources.
2009 12 Build 9788 (Jun 15, 2009)
DO NOT download this buggy version.
Acronis knows it, and are working to fix the bug.
This buggy version does NOT recognize legitimate serial #s, and keeps saying that the good serial # you have entered is incorrect.
Don't waste your time, avoid a lot of headaches and bypass this bad version.
Wait till Acronis fixes it and releases a new and hopefully a properly working version soon.
UPDATE ON 6/16/09:
This issue is only with this 9788 version. Previous versions of 2009 do not have serial # issues.
Read the Acronis forums here:
http://www.wilderssecuri...showthread.php?t=245202
Highly recommend not to install this buggy version, and wait till Acronis fixes this bug, and releases a newer version.
Shame on Acronis.
ANOTHER UPDATE at 9:22 AM MDT, June 16:
Acronis has just removed this buggy version from their servers, check here:
http://www.acronis.com/h...mputing/support/updates/
At last, after many complaints, they did what they should have done yesterday.
9.1.2 (Jun 11, 2009)
Adobe is in deep trouble.
This is another major security update within 2 short weeks.
Can't Adobe get it done properly anymore.
This is also the second major update without a stand alone (full) version of Reader. You have to install the buggy full version first, then waste your time in updating this troubled software.
I just wish Adobe will get its act together.
Shame on Adobe.
6 Update 14 (Jun 2, 2009)
Something unusual and fishy has happened since this update 14 was released.
Sun has removed this new update from their servers soon after releasing it, and reverted back to the previous update 13 version.
There is absolutely no news or explanation for this action.
Why?
My only guess is that update 14 was buggy, and not ready for prime time.
If someone knows the reason, please post it here.
6 Update 14 (Oct 1, 2007 - 8:48 PM)
For many years I hated AT&T, because I never liked their way of doing business. They have high rates and very poor customer service.
Now they proved that they su*k big time.
I have held up from saying this to them, but I can't hold it anymore.
F*CK you AT&T, and go to H*LL.
I hate you with all my heart.
6 Update 14 (Sep 24, 2007 - 9:45 PM)
Till today there is a bug that I have not seen fixed in Vista, its this: I cannot change or customize colors for Tool Tips, which is found here:
Control Panel / Personalization / Window Color and Appearance / Open classic appearance .. / Advanced / Item: Tool Tip
I have checked it with different brand PCs, all Vista versions, with both nVidia and ATI adapters, on desktops and laptops.
Any of you experience similar problems?
6 Update 14 (Aug 27, 2007 - 1:45 PM)
It is still lousy.
Email home page is full of news.
Yahoo: Take off the irritating news features and just show us email and nothing but email features.
Another irritating feature that stupid Yahoo has not fixed, even though I wrote them many times, it is this:
You still have NOT added a button to add my signature manually when composing new email.
Yahoo Beta Mail is not ready yet.
6 Update 14 (Jul 31, 2007 - 12:09 PM)
How to Remove "FedEX Kinko" button:
In Acrobat Reader, right-click menu buttons bar and on the bottom click on "More Tools".
In "File Toolbar" uncheck "Send To FedEx Kinko"
That is all.
Enjoy.
6 Update 14 (Oct 19, 2006 - 2:59 PM)
Unfortunately I have to be patient and wait for XP SP3.
I hate Vista.
Will never buy it and will never use it.
