0.9 Beta 11 (Nov 16, 2005)
Terrible interface (requires plug-ins and tweaking to achieve functionality on par with the major players out there), poor user experience (uglier than MS-DOS), and boring design. Foobar is taking "minimalism" and pushing it to the extreme.
There's only one program I've tested that has a small footprint like Foobar, but comes with full music organizer functionality, and that's musikcube. If I wanted to use no system resources to play my music, I'd string up some command-prompt player with some spiffy codecs. If you have a real music collection, Foobar isn't worth the effort.
2.0 Beta Updated (With Sidebar) (Oct 14, 2005)
Where are the release notes?? Tell us what changed :(. I'm pretty addicted to the Scratch Pad and Todo panels of the Sidebar. Can't really find a suitable alternative.
1.39 Beta 2 (Oct 9, 2005)
Wow, the icons this program uses look like total crap when you have large icons enabled on your desktop. Unacceptable. Thanks for making my media file icons look terrible.
1.39 Beta 2 (Jan 26, 2006 - 10:40 AM)
"Comprimise?" Well, compromising at the expense of a powerful ideology (Google's desire to do no wrong) is never acceptable. Why even try to be good if you let human rights abusers like the PRC bully you?

You think this has to do with the economy? No matter how wealthy a given American is, you'd be surprised to what lengths [s]he is willing to go to save money. Everyone loves a killer deal, it's the American way!
