  2. Review - Notebook Hardware Control

    2.0 Pre-Release-06 (May 7, 2007)

Works fairly well. However you may want to go to the Author's page if you have a Dell system he has a hotfix version there

  3. Review - Skype for Windows

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Apr 11, 2004)

***RANT***First off evidently half the people here (not saying which half) DID NOT READ what SKYPE is there is no SPYWARE or ADWARE PERIOD. Of course other PCs have to ACCESS your computer HOW ELSE IN THE WORLD DO YOU MAKE A CONNECTION. This is NOT a FILE SHARING program. So please either mod out the anti-kazza statements and p2p file sharing THEY ARE OFF TOPIC

Can someone at BETANEWS remove those they are skewing the ratings with trash....(ok maybey mine is too so I'll give some review here) Skpye has constantly gotten better and is gaining commercial support VoIP is growing mature the makers of NERO ahead have similar called SIPPS. Betas have always small things that don't work or problems but I have not found any Major problems in Skype. For Free IP-IP telephony with on the fly encryption for voice and data (chat) packets the price is incredible. Now they are even supporting VoIP calls to and from PCs and Pocket PC 2003. They need to work on transfering buddy lists or perhaps calls but they are doing a great job IMHO. They voice Quality is excellent even on my Pocket PC (guess what WoW only a 400 MHZ xscale with 64megs ram) the PC version reccomends 2000 or XP and if you aren't running a bettter processor than 400mhz and 64 megs ram perhaps you really should not be running 2000/XP. The interface is easy to navigate for multiple ages and I have seen a 3 year old and a 87 year old know how to start the call and talk. Plus the value added functions as placing a party on hold (can make additional calls while on hold) and conference calling makes this a excellent program)

I again ask the mods to remove the plain ignorant remarks and even feel free to edit out my request (but not the review)
If you are worried so much about security fine don't run P2P file sharing apps but otherwise your safest bet is to turn off your pc unplug it from the wall and destroy it with a sledge hammer. Every Web based APP or TCP/IP app is going to have some ports open on your pc otherwise it wouldn't work and that includes random high ports. So unless someone here is qualified enough to analyze every packet that every app transmits (and if we trust you which i may or may not) then feel free to list every apps security vulnerabilities as you feel fit. THIS IS NOT P2P File sharing

  4. Comment - iPhone's global success is more marketing myth than reality

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Oct 2, 2009 - 5:37 AM)

I was actually looking forward to the TP2 but I might go for the LEO HD2 or if they ever release a Tegra based one go for it. Then I can use it on any carrier I choose. (travel lots europe and usa)

  5. Comment - Zune HD: The best portable media player you may never buy

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Sep 29, 2009 - 2:31 AM)

A Zune Phone yeah sure perhaps $59 once it is subsidized on a 2 year contract.

  6. Comment - Zune HD: The best portable media player you may never buy

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Sep 29, 2009 - 2:29 AM)

I don't like sony since the rootkit fiasco.. but I still have a ps3 for bluray... but back on topic I think the screenshots were to show similar splash screens between zune 4.0 software and the zune hd.

  7. Comment - AMD to ship its six-core Opteron server CPU

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Jun 3, 2009 - 12:30 PM)

I have 2 of the 2400 series in my current destop with 4 cores each (tyan DP MB) they run cooler then my old FX74's did I am considering the 6 core upgrades do go from 8 to 12 cores. But I might wait till the 8 core ones come out. MY biggest headache is finding highdensity DDR 2 with EEC and partity at a decent price and speed.

I did get some nice kingston and am running with 16GB now 4x4GB boards but would love to see what it would be like to fully populate my motherboard with its 64GB it supports.

So I am wondering new Dual 6 cores or more memory... I really don't need either yet as I am only running about 4-5 gigs standard in windows 7 64 bit and about 18% cpu utilization.

  8. Comment - Confirmed: Windows 7 RC to the public on May 5

    0.97.0.32 Beta (Apr 27, 2009 - 10:15 AM)

only bad thing is SteadyState as it currently is does not Support 64 bit. However if they are going to do some virtulization why not have the "guest" only have acess to the virtual and when it logs out or reboots it is a clean slate. (virtual non persistant)
