  1. Review - digsby

    Build 73 Beta (Nov 17, 2009)

Don't waste your time with this one any more, go with Astra Trillian, Pidgin or Miranda. They are all far better alternatives, and their method of revenue are not nasty.

  2. Review - PVN

    0.09 (Oct 28, 2009)

Well madmike the problem must be at your end I download this program no sweat.

I really don't see a lot of use for this program, looks like it's mainly for folks in Africa and there are free services on the internet that are just way better and have far more to offer like graigs list, kijiji and so forth.

One concern I have is that there's no encryption so everything is sent cleartext including the ftp with username and password used by the program to get it's updates from, not a good thing.

An update to test the create an ad I did well just the part where you create your account and found that the username and password used is sent over the internet cleartext, yikes.

I understand they might not have the resources to do more but one idea they could allow someone to create their account, and/or an ad and send the information encrypted to an e-mail address. Since they review each add etc. this would work, then when the account/add is approved add it to their ftp site.

  3. Review - SIW

"-2 stars for wrong info and the lack of fixing it when told."

That will teach them, next time god speaks jump.

  4. Review - digsby

    Build 70 r24505 (Oct 8, 2009)

There's nothing safe about digsby used to love this program now gone in the wind.

The ad-aware in the installer alone makes it unsafe, I really don't care if you can uncheck it it's unsafe for that reason alone. I will never blame the user alone for making errors I'm a 50/50 blamer.

Don't like it, too bad my recommendation to everyone I know and everyone who will hear me, stay away from Digsby.

  5. Review - BootRacer

    2.0 Beta (Sep 29, 2009)

Not really a useful program, as anyone who can tell the time can time how long their computer takes to boot. A better program would of been to also monitor how long each program etc. takes to load up during boot, and to measure other items to see how long they take (whatever those are :) )
That way one could see why their system takes x amount of time to boot up.

  6. Comment - Broadcast radio one step closer to paying performers' royalties

    2.0 Beta (Oct 16, 2009 - 12:38 PM)

"With the music industry's business model in flux, mostly due to forces seemingly beyond its control"
    That's total bull.

"usually as riders to unrelated bills that have no chance of failing"
Ok any politician(s) that does such a thing is pretty slimy. Says a lot about their character and up bringing.

Basically I really don't know what's going to happen but I do have my opinion and here it is. I do think some slime balls will "ride" this bill and get it passed this way. I don't think all radio stations will go talk radio but I do think they will be seriously looking at alternatives, maybe indie or whatever. I also think that this bill could take the power/monopoly from the big labels since radios will not just play any crap sent to them but instead will begin to rate new music based on somesort of business model of what they think how their listeners will like the song, will they be listening to their station for it etc. basically how much money they think a song can net them. This will eliminate tons on current artists and new artists as they will have trouble finding a radio station to play their music. I don't know how well I'm explaining my idea here but hope you understand.

Now assuming my idea is even partially correct that will open up the doors to current bands etc. who are trying to "make it big" but can't get a record label to sign them. Because I believe radio broadcasters can and will create some means so that one could submit their song(s) to be rated. And I'm also willing to bet that if the band(s) are willing to let the radio stations play their song(s) for free they will get plenty of airtime, assuming the song(s) don't suck too much :)

That's just my 2 cents before taxes, and don't take my opinions too seriously as I'm insane :)

  7. Comment - Verizon victory: Royalties not due every time the phone rings

    2.0 Beta (Oct 15, 2009 - 5:09 PM)

    ASCAP are douche bags anyways.

I think we need to make a few changes in the world. Instead of hunters hunting down animals maybe it should be legal to hunt down ASCAP and RIAA members.

    Just a thought.

  8. Comment - Tough luck iTunes 9, Zune 4 rocks

    2.0 Beta (Sep 15, 2009 - 7:26 PM)

This reminds of a Family Guy scene where Carter Pewterschmidt asks Bill Gates if he could help him program his Zune then pulls out an iPod and says oh wait I have an iPod like the rest of the world, funny as hell. And that sums up my thoughts :)

  9. Comment - Symantec launches Norton Security 10 and Quorum technology

    2.0 Beta (Sep 10, 2009 - 6:30 PM)

I have to admit quorum sounds interesting and I wouldn't mind giving a go. But my problem with Norton is how much memory it used, but all of the resources. Just 8 months ago I helped a neighbor who bought a brand new computer but it was running slow. As soon as I uninstalled Norton software the speed of her computer almost doubled, then I got rid of a lot of other junk, ask.com toolbar and so forth and boom a brand new computer, HP sucks :)

As for a lot of the problems it's people and their stupidity mixed with greed. It's not like a lot of the scams etc. are really all that sophisticated not by a long shot yet there is no lack of victims that fall for it. Even now somebody is falling for the nigeria 419 scam come on how stupid can one be. The obvious spam, no lack of stupid people falling for those. So Norton and any other security company can try to combat the problem, but the real problem and only real solution is to find a way to make some people a little smarter, good luck on that. And don't get me started on companies with no or weak security measures.
I could go on and on about this but I won't :
