Very fast browser without the bloat of others. I have found it much faster then IE, Firefox (although I use it a lot), and Opera. If you are not one who likes to tweak to get things just right, this one is not for you. If you don't mind the tweaking and want a basic, fast browser, this one is it.

  2. Comment - Court: Border search of laptops without cause permissible by law

    1.0 (Apr 24, 2008 - 8:26 PM)

Jennifer Granic said that the 4th Amendment "constrains police from conducting arbitrary searches". While that is true, there is reasonable cause for laptops to be searched in this case. The reason is that it is targeted at a group of people, in this case those that cross the border. The 4th does not protect a group if some members of an identifiable group (which make it not arbitrary) has members that have been shown to be conducting illegal activities. In that case there is probable cause.

I am concerned that groups like the EFF are willing to allow these things that hurt our country to go on. Even worse, they take actions that support these activities. Are they supporters of child pornography and the like?

If I am a traveler and I have nothing to hide, why should I be concerned? Yes, it is less convenient but losing some convenience seems to be a small price to pay to protect our country.

  3. Comment - New UI Highlights Changes in Office 12

    1.0 (Sep 14, 2005 - 10:24 AM)

This Office's UI is much better than the one's in the past. It makes the most commonly used functions and tools easier to find than past versions. This is important for most of the users out there who don't use or care for the numerous close-to-publisher functionalities that are currently available.

The UI is better organized to allow the functions to be spotted more easily even if it does take up more screen space. I would be surprised if the UI was not customizable in some way.

Understand that I'm no fan of Microsoft but I am a developer who has dealt with end users a lot over the years.

  4. Comment - Study: Video Games Lead to Violent Behavior

    1.0 (Aug 23, 2005 - 8:59 AM)

The study said that there was increased aggressiveness not the tendency to do the same thing as in the video game. However, remember the GTA incident? That guy did do what was in the video.

You make an interesting point. For some reason, because this has received the spotlight, the politicians want to jump on the morality bandwagon. That does not make this issue any worse than the others, just more noticed.

I am not familiar with GTA except having seen it on the shelfs in the store and seeing what it was about on the box and the title was convincing enough for me that it wasn't anything that I or my kids should be playing.

"It is up to parents to control what content their children play/view ect.."

    Amen to that.
