It is not exactly very nice to rate a program even without downloading, but to even make people pay USD 10 for something that even Nero offers for free is a little ridiculous. Why not make it freeware but download from the author's website and the advertisements on its site will generate revenue?
3.50 Build 070207 (Jun 6, 2007)
OK, it's really very fast in searching -- I don't think it deserves the 1.8 rating. It boasts itself to be the fastest, and I think indexing 60GB of info with all the minute detail of the files in the many archives I have really seems to point so.
It's probably not perfect, but it doesn't deserve 1.8, so 5 is to balance things a little.
1.8.6 (Jun 5, 2007)
What's going on .... I looked at other download managers when I saw the many starts and restarts (Note: I only use 1 thread) and yet I find myself coming back to Flashget. For multiple protocols (minus eMule and BitTorrent -- why in the whole world did they put them in when there are many better ones), file detail interface, a small square to show percentage and download speeds etc, I think it is still better. But if this start-restart nonsense still continues I am thinking of 'downgrading' to v1.73 or another downloader.
The only improvement in the v1.8 series IMHO is that FlashGet finally takes in the new settings, including new file name renaming, when checking for updates.
1.1 Beta 65 (Dec 12, 2006)
Uncharacteristically buggy for 7z and RAR. Hope update soon.
1.2.0.1 Beta (Nov 15, 2006)
Sounds like a bad idea without downloading.
Better off trying Firefox Portable.

Ha ha .... but then he's still known as a connoisseur for the good things of life. Rumour has it he buys 10% of the best wines of the world still.

Hey, let's not take this report out of context. The trouble of reporting this kind of reports in mainstream media is that whatever is the most sensational part will be fully covered but other important things on the study are not mentioned.
Pardon my bluntness, but how many of you here has read the proper full paper? The people probably best to evaluate such studies are neuroscientists, neurologists and psychiatrists. The circuitry of the brain is a fascinating research area and much more needs to be understood about the brain. Every little study helps in postulating or debunking the pathways.
Such studies are also useful for translation into clinical use later, e.g. in treatment of psychiatric patients. Not just playing the 'safer' games, but also therapeutic targets for medical modulation for example.
1.2.0.1 Beta (Nov 15, 2006 - 9:05 PM)
Come on.
It's obvious which one is more apparently objective. What MS is doing is like a drug company sponsoring a study to show its drug is better.
1.2.0.1 Beta (Jun 28, 2006 - 10:37 AM)
I see another way that MS can tell for sure UAC is terrible:
Someone can write a program for Win XP to implement UAC. Then let's see what happens ...
