9.0 Build 8212 Technology Preview 2 (Feb 7, 2006)
Yay! Ctrl+Enter finally auto completes "www" and "com" when used in the address field.
The widgets seem to be faster (less resource hogging?) than yahoo widgets, etc. But, no betanews widget yet :(
Now if they only had filterset.g adblock built in I would forgive the lack of extensions because of the speed.
0.1.52.58 Beta (May 4, 2005)
I'm extremely impressed.
I would disregard those comments from people claiming that this just downloads a copy from Google's server. Obviously the caching is more complex than that, with local caching that seems efficient.
Real-world testing with Firefox on cable modem seems to be the kind of tweak that actually does something unlike 99% of the tweaks.
I will go ahead and say it--it is like taking advantage of Opera-like caching with Firefox!
Beta (Oct 14, 2004)
Superb! If you use Internet Explorer (not firefox), every web page you browse to is cached and searchable. I'm in love!!!!
2.20.0002 Beta (Jul 22, 2004)
OK, this is not just another IE shell. This shell is fast becoming my browser of choice at work, which is a big deal for shareware. Like Opera, you need to read a little on it (take the Flash tutorial) before you understand how productive it is.
Features that just make sense that other browsers just don't do as well (they may have features but not intuitive like this):
1. Rifle through web pages for slide shows or as a finding tool (hold down left mouse and drag and flip through really fast). In this browser the "tabs" and the "history" are the same thing usually.
2. Drag through close buttons to close multiple "tabs" very clickly (just drag down).
3. Drag through favorite buttons to keep multiple "tabs" alway open (sticky tabs)
4. Single key keyboard shortcuts

"Version 2.0.112
New! Browse by Name - save time by typing names instead of URLs in your browser's address bar"
Great! Doesn't integrate yet with deskbar, but so far the Browse by Name feature is working well (type in Address bar not Google bar) these work so far: betanews, toolbar, time, slashdot, gmail, firefox, opera, mozilla, ala, bankofamerica, ebert, drudge, majorgeeks, texas a&m, whitehouse, pcworld, pcmag, cnet, wsj, dsl reports, today's date, findarticles, consumerreports, budweiser, barbie, ...
Doesn't work yet: findory, langa, greenmachine, finnie, bink, lisfeeds, ptech wsj, ie...
Questionable results: calculator, leo,

"Microsoft-bashing somehow unyieldingly remains a national pastime"
Uh, let me get this straight... you report on a telephone marketing product launch and believe that people who actually use Microsoft products who question the security remarks of a "co-president" of a corporation are "bashers"?
Instead of apologizing to Microsoft, why don't you actually play around with the Vista release candidate and find out how hard it is to get a drive-by download, an email virus, or spyware?
2.0.112 (Oct 24, 2006 - 10:26 PM)
I actually love this. Yes, you do have to install the regular Adobe reader as well, but it is quick, quick, quick. Flip through those pages. Works great in Vista (RC2 5744).
