  1. Comment - Canon Brings Color to Windows Vista

    (Sep 15, 2005 - 3:27 PM)

Yeah, I know about that, but read the fine print:
    1. Canon themselves performed the tests and extrapolated the results, in other words, the 100 years claim is just their opinion.
    2. The "100 years" only applies to photos printed using Canon inks and Canon papers.
    3. The photos must be stored behind glass or in a protected photo album.

Not very impartial or scientific, is it? I'd be more impressed if Wilhelm Imaging Research backed up their claims of 100 year permanence. In the meantime, I'll keep using my Canon inkjets for photos I intend to store behind glass and quickie snapshots. Everything else I'll send to a traditional print shop.

Ugh! You guys sure are easily impressed.

Isn't anyone else bothered by those obnoxiously harsh colors on the Sidebar screenshot? Even Linux designers know how to make a colorful yet unobtrusive GUI. MS still insists on assaulting our eyeballs with their oversaturated, glaring version of "pretty". The kindest thing they can do for us users would be to make the shell customizerable so that we don't have to purchase 3rd party products in order to make the O/S look the way it should in the first place.

Looks aside, I'm hoping that the final product has more going for it than the screenshots suggest. How about a user customizable context menu, easier networking, better driver and codec support (auto downloading that actually works), better use of multi monitor setups, better/easier auto backup options, etc.

It's gonna take a lot more than a change to the GUI to convince me to overlook the inherent limitations they're imposing via DRM and purchase yet another OS.

Paris Hilton should've been given a sentence too... for being criminally stupid.

TMo is lame. They use their money to make an example out of this kid because he showed the world how lax their security is.

    T-Mobile: Get More! Jailtime.

I have to agree. Canon's inkjet printers kick @ss; they make awesome prints right out of the box without a lot of tweaking. Epson gets the nod for longest lasting prints though; Canon still has a way to go in that regard. Still, I'd rather deal with the hassle of protecting my prints with sleeves than suffer through Epson's notorious print head clogging. I bought my last Epson in 2001 and haven't looked back.

A day late and a dollar short, as usual, Microsoft. By the time Vista actually ships, most of your former customers will be using Macs (which, incidentally, have had color management since the late 80s. Doh!) I confess, if I didn't have so much expensive software tied to your buggy, virus and spyware attracting OS, I would've jumped ship a long time ago.
