  1. Review - Defraggler

    1.08.132 (Apr 4, 2009)

I have used this on multiple PC's with Vista, and it never works. It will run for over 12 hours on a recently installed disk and make hardly a dent in what for any other program is only minor fragmentation. If you want to work your hard drive to death and do absolutely nothing - use this program.

  2. Review - Fresh UI

    8.28 (Apr 2, 2009)

Same problem as others. The publisher doesn't bother to send emails for the download link to accounts that have ABSOLUTELY no problem receiving emails from other services. Get with the times - nobody uses "ISP" emails anymore.

  3. Review - Songbird

    0.5 RC1 (Mar 12, 2008)

    Not anywhere near there yet.

Call me when it properly handles:
Smart Playlists (I thought it might by the words "dynamic playlists", but sadly, no.)
    Auto-deletion of listened to podcasts.

  4. Review - ImgBurn

    2.4.0.0 (Mar 9, 2008)

What more is there to say? I'm never installing Nero again! I don't need all the carpware that comes with the latest "suites", I need to be able to burn files and ISOs and that's what this gives me.

  5. Review - EF Commander Lite

    6.51 (Mar 8, 2008)

1999 called, it wants its endless rows of tiny unlabeled and ambiguous icons back.

  6. Comment - Cat and mouse game continues for EA and Take-Two

    6.51 (Mar 28, 2008 - 6:19 PM)

The problem is that whenever EA takes over a developer, they take a dump on the actual programmers who made that developer successful, firing them and/or moving them off of the projects with which they are familiar with little regard to product quality. Then they take a dump on the purchasers who made those developers successful, delivering shoddy products and little to no patch support despite numerous outstanding issues.

The MARKET does not want EA to take over Take-Two any more than Take-Two's shareholders do, and I'm certain few Take-Two employees want it either.

I seriously hope Take-Two has a poison pill in place, but they probably don't.

  7. Comment - Mozilla releases Firefox 3.0 Beta 3, adds several features

    6.51 (Feb 13, 2008 - 1:47 AM)

It apparently, among the other "several" features, added the "break windowblinds" feature. Show-stopper for me, and as it's been around since Beta 1 and is still present in Beta 3, I'm willing to bet it won't ever be fixed by the Mozilla folks. Sucks major, as my Stardock subscription is lapsed, so I won't get any Windowblinds updates either... when Firefox is the one that broke things, and apparently is passing it off to Stardock to fix on their end.

  8. Comment - Vista SP1 'on schedule' for March RTM

    6.51 (Jan 25, 2008 - 4:11 PM)

I was going to reply posting where my reliability monitor was, but it hasn't updated since January 8, apparently, when it was at 2.5.

I will admit, MS is honest enough in that ANY crashes, app or OS, will seriously affect the reliability monitor. Until it stops updating as mine has... hmm..

I think around the 8th, I tried the SP 1 release candidate, had problems with my sound card, and uninstalled it. Must be why the reliability monitor stopped.

  9. Comment - HD VMD: The third format that would not die

    6.51 (Jan 9, 2008 - 12:44 AM)

I have a stack of laserdiscs and a player.....
