  1. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.9 Build 13910 Alpha (Jan 22, 2009)

uTorrent is as it is written up to be. Lightweight on system resources BUT the biggest complaint I have is the following: When in the taskbar of Windows Vista, it tends to stay there and neither left nor right mouse click(s) can get it begone, not even the Task Manager fully does this. Although it seems UTorrent is gone, in fact, according to Vista, uTorrent still runs and a "new" start is non comprende. This occurs when (other than security software) only uTorrent is running or another instance of a program of varying size is running as well.

Other than that, you will find that you can selectively choose which files within files you want, you can pick and choose. You can read easily just what is coming "in the pipeline". The interface is self explanatory and the author has really left nothing out. It is not a resource hog at all.

Yet again, the inability to shut down uTorrent simply by right clicking (at random this happens) is frustrating, requiring a reboot if you truly seek to utilize uTorrent as the author perhaps intends.

  2. Review - Adobe Soundbooth CS4

    Beta 3 (Apr 17, 2007)

FWIW, When attempting to download the Adobe Soundbooth CS3 from this website, I read that the HTML was being downloaded, the message lasted for no more than 5 seconds. Then, for some unknown reason, IE7 completly shut down, just "gone" "poof" and not a warning or message about crashing or needing to shut down at all.

Also, I had at that time, several tabs going, the only page for any download was for this program. The other 2 pages were related to reading about Microsofts "Silverlight".

BTW, this is certainly NOT "freeware" at all.

  3. Review - RipIt4Me

    1.6.3.0 (Dec 21, 2006)

Dunno how well this would work without Microsoft Windows Update and DRM etc. interfering, it did with my computer.

All I got was a memory acess error and the DVDRW / CD RW drive was no longer recognized as working, although there in Hardware Devices.

From, there I should've System Restore back up the computer before installing and or using Rip It For Me (and DVD Decrypter) for I formatted from the HD install CD due to the crash in order for the "D" drive to be recognized.

Believe me I tried everythig else.

DVD Decrypter used to work fine but again, between the "smart" management of Microsoft and the DVD makers, the system, at least mine can't handle either program at all. I never got to experience RipIt4Me in all it's glory...

So for those who have a PC that is pre Windows Update and offline, basically first and or fresh install of your OS, you should be fine, don't quote me on that.

  4. Review - Mozilla Thunderbird for Windows

    2.0 Alpha 1 (Dec 11, 2006)

    Just two questions

Before I download this, will this migrate my settings (address book, passwords, email addressees) from Outlook Express
    2. Will it decode yenc without having to install 3rd party software, in other words, is yenc decoding built in?

Otherwise I've used it before 2 years ago and it worked great but not for the above that I recall.

  5. Review - DVDFab HD Decrypter

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Sep 15, 2006)

    Why?

NYC yesterday: 40,000 CD/DVD's confiscated as the largest "pirate" ring in the US was taken down by authorities.

What's that got to do with DVDFab?

    Nothing - yet.....

  6. Comment - Has the PC Become Antiquated?

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Apr 30, 2007 - 10:45 AM)

New Toys Reads Brain Waves (Remember Virginia Tech 04/16/07 RIP)

Do any of you know about the win rate of a micro biological organism residing in a PC tower in Silicone Valley playing the game TIC TAC TOE? Circa 2003, during the living PC's first 6 months of existance, not one human being had won.

  7. Comment - Microsoft Patches Windows Cursor Flaw

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Apr 4, 2007 - 9:59 AM)

RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation

The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not
run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for
Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a
    new DLL.

If you have read that immediatly after installing and rebooting your
computer from the latest Microsoft Security fix, all you have to do is go to
your Control Panel, then to Add/Remove Programs, make sure updates is
checked and uninstall the fix, the problem will go away but it does leave
the need for a security fix still open.

This is related directly to Microsofts development regarding the "never
ending shell crash" in all Microsoft Windows systems. That was spurred on
by the discovery that an animated cursor could leave your Windows operating
    system open to hackers.

  8. Comment - Adobe Unveils Creative Suite 3

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Mar 27, 2007 - 8:12 PM)

I've always been a fan of ULEAD http://www.ulead.com and their Photo Impact product, always under $100 USD and does everything that Adobe PhotoShop does.
http://www.coffeecup.com their software is great, you get your bang for the buck and it's far less expensive than Adobe.

Adobe is okay, nothing special but with a loaded bank account.

  9. Comment - Sony Settles Rootkit Case with California

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Dec 21, 2006 - 9:49 AM)

So, when I bought Bruce Springsteen "We Shall Overcome" and tried to rip it to PC, this root kit told the DVD (one side was) and CD (the other side) don't work in this computer no more?
Because the drive became inefficient thereafter.

  10. Comment - Hackers Find New Vista Activation Crack

    3.0.0.1 Beta 9 (Dec 11, 2006 - 10:45 AM)

I guess if you understand all that it all comes down to this.

There was the "Vista might not be virus prone" article a few weeks back.

    Ah yea, right!
