  1. Review - Winamp 5 Full

    5.08 (Dec 23, 2004)

If as they say, the only change is:
    Created new eMusic bundles

That's a sucky update. Boh to Nullsoft for a lame useless update.

  2. Review - Adobe Reader for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/2008

    7.0 (Dec 21, 2004)

It works great while speed has really improved since Acrobat 6 but it sure is bloated. A ~20mb download and an installed size of ~98mb. Come on !

    Back to good old 4.05

  3. Review - eDonkey2000 Client for Windows

    1.0.5 Test (Dec 20, 2004)

I've been experiencing better results with eDonkey than with eMule (or eMule mods).

This version does contain adware but you just install eDonkey, then run Spybot & the adware is gone while eDonkey still works

  4. Review - Jetico Personal Firewall

    1.0.1.44 RC (Dec 3, 2004)

I tried it in the past and it was unstable.
I'm happy with this new version. But if you are looking for a product that comes without the need for configuration (like Vegeta there...), then this is NOT for you. Go with ZA or something else.
As for www.firewallleaktester.com if you read carefully, there they tested Jetico for an older version... I did the tests and guess what: for me Jetico passed ALL of them! No injected code allowed. So while others are willing to pay 40 bucks for products like Look'n' Stop, I will do the same for free.
Thank you Jetico. Keep up the ggod work!

  5. Review - KeePass Password Safe Classic Edition

    0.98a (Nov 22, 2004)

This is an awesome product. As a security conscious user, I downloaded the source, checked it and then compiled my own builds.

It has all the features I'm looking + it's free.

  6. Comment - Longhorn Gets a Name: Windows Vista

    0.98a (Jul 22, 2005 - 4:45 PM)

    from the wikipedia

    ""NT" designation

It is popularly believed that Dave Cutler intended the initialism "WNT" as a pun on VMS, incrementing each letter by one; while this would have suited Cutler's sense of humor, the project's earlier name of NT OS/2 belies this theory. Another of the original OS/2 3.0 developers, Mark Lucovsky, states that the name was taken from the Intel i860 processor—code-named "N-Ten"—which served as the original target hardware. Various Microsoft publications, including a 1998 question-and-answer session with Bill Gates[2], reveal that the letters were expanded to "New Technology" for marketing purposes but no longer carry any specific meaning.

The letters were dropped from the name of Windows 2000. This action ostensibly reflected Microsoft's intent to unify its home and business lines, then represented by Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0, but this goal would not be achieved until the introduction of Windows XP. Some believe this to be the result of a trademark dispute between Microsoft and Nortel."

Quite simple: by making an offer to PS shareholders that exceeds PS value.

  10. Comment - ICQ, Others Back New U3 USB Standard

    0.98a (Jan 7, 2005 - 4:04 PM)

Miranda, a "self-contained" IM application, not only already does ICQ, but AIM, MSN, Jabber, IRC, etc. I've been using it for months on a thumb drive.

Maybe applications like ICQ could cut down on the needless bloat, and focus making their apps work more like Miranda...instead of developing yet another "standard" with a catchy name.
