  1. Comment - Google Chrome takes more than just inspiration from Mozilla

    (Sep 3, 2008 - 1:25 AM)

Actually they ripped off at least as much from IE8 as they did from FF.

Take for example the architecture to do process per tab... that has been planned for IE8 for a long time and was publicly blogged in March:

(Yes, the implementation is different but the concept is the same.)

Also, they're "incognito" mode is the same as IE's "InPrivate" mode (also missing from stock FF).

  2. Comment - Microsoft slashes price of Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on

    (Dec 5, 2007 - 5:26 PM)

$129 feels about right for the add-on given that standalones are going for $199 (talking regular prices here).

That said, I managed to pick up a $120 HD-A2 when the crazy sales were going on last month so I'm passing on the add-on.

  3. Comment - Radiohead: comScore's Numbers Are Wrong

    (Nov 9, 2007 - 6:16 PM)

Surprised that Radiohead doesn't make the numbers public. That would at least give other bands a good idea as to whether it's a decent model.

  4. Comment - How HD DVD Got its Groove Back

    (Nov 7, 2007 - 7:56 PM)

From what I have read, BR needs the extra scratch resistance because the data layer on the disc is so much closer to the surface. Off the top of my head, I think it is 0.1mm vs 0.6 for HD-DVD (and regular DVD).

This is what helped it to have higher capacity, but also has it's disadvantages - scratches and lower yields (at least right now).

  5. Comment - Can Vista Be Credited With Microsoft's Stellar Q1 Gains?

Here is pretty good run down of x64:

Speaking for myself, I installed x64 off the bat and haven't had any issues but I don't have any really old hardware/software kicking around.
