Stickies probably did not screw up the "Start bar" of the previous reviewer. To see if it did, simply close Stickies and then rename the file shook45.dll (the file responsible for setting up Stickies' optional global hook). I say this because that's the most likely culprit of any weird issues with Stickies. There's no way Stickies itself (without shook45.dll) caused such a problem.
Stickies is great where others suck. ATnotes is nice, but it has been abandoned, and requires you to select URLs before opening them. Stickies lets you simply double click links to open them (links can point to local files, too).
If you don't use Stickies, there is something inherently wrong with you as a person.

This is one of the best file rename utilities out there, but will not be too friendly to the beginners or those that are not very skilled with computers. If you're looking for something "Point -n- Click" this isn't for you.
99% of ANY file renaming needs are covered by the interface and that last 1% can still be done in Rename Master with the included full Regular Expression support, provided of course that you KNOW how to use Regular Expressions.

That'll teach me to ever trust this type of company again... Lesson learned: They're experienced in hiding from authorities, so why would they worry about little old me and the license they sold me?
You can be I used that contact form.

According to AV-Comparatives.org, avast! does not fare particularly well at detecting trojans or "other malware" (whatever that is). Overall, though, it does very well. It does a good job of staying out of your face, and is a much better solution than other freeware AV solutions I know of.
I would not say that avast! was among the "top 3, free or otherwise". Top 10, though, yes.
People are simply biased in favor of avast! because it's free. Proof? The free version has fewer features than the for-pay version, yet is rated more highly.

Overly simplistic, feature-devoid interpretware. Lacks flexibility and options any podcast downloader should have, such as scheduling and filtering. Doesn't even remember pane/splitter positions. In other words, garbage. But hey, it's free, so I'm "supposed" to vomit up a 5. Don't think so.

This could have happened with any AV solution. A week ago, no one had an idea that this flaw existed. How do you know that YOUR software isn't vulnerable to some attack? You don't.

Missed a trojan? Big deal. I've found two trojans that Kaspersky missed. Yes, they were indeed quick to add them once I submitted them, but if I was your typical moron who ran it rather than testing it forensically, I would have been infected with them.
In case my point isn't clear, it is simply that it makes no sense to base your opinions of an anti-malware solution on one detection. Or, for that matter, one review or even an entire review site like av-comparatives.org.

Oh, stop being a loser. How cute, you know how to extend the NOD32 trial. If you want to play games, use a freeware AV application--there are many to choose from. If you want to use NOD32, pay for the damned thing.

I notice you didn't cite a reference for your mythical "study". I call BS.
I have used KIS and KAV 6.0 extensively. And now that I am no longer paid to lie for Kaspersky, I can be honest: The products were rushed out the door, and are very problematic on many systems. Have you noticed that the application integrity feature is disabled by default in both KIS and KAV 6.0? (And I am talking about the 6.0.0.300 "gold" versions.) This is because this feature has a nasty habit of sucking CPU terribly. So what to do--fix it? No, ship now, fix later. Nice.
What's more, there are still stability issues. I'm sure you will say that KAV runs perfectly for you. Which is wonderful (I will surely sleep better tonight). But I've seen the KAV 6.0 engine crash with no obvious reason why--which renders all of its protection null and void.
And, no matter how it works or what you claim, it impacts performance more than NOD32.
