I have used this many years ago, when there were not so many alternatives. Today, we have very good alternative freeware encoders/converters. Lately, I have switched from MediaCoder to AIMP2 Audio Converter, which is a part of AIMP2 player. I highly recommend it.
2.27.01 Beta (Jul 29, 2008)
It is the most feature-complete and most advanced launcher out there! It simply rocks! I love it, and even I use only a minor amount of features and plugins it has (because it requires someone to remember the syntax of the commands-plugins) it greatly simplifies computer usage.
Many thanks, mouser!
1.82.1001 (Mar 22, 2007)
I liked the new interface and the new build. I have not seen any freeze or system slowdown I saw at the previous versions.
Unfortunately there are still some issues that have been waiting to be resolved for years!
1- The main download list can not be sorted anyway. If you move them to a category folder, then they become sortable! Although I e-mailed the author many months ago, there has been no response or solution to date.
This problem can be seen unimportant, but to me, it's a necessity, because sometimes I need to sort the list by filesize (only if known!), or filename (to find duplicates) and this is a basic feature I think.
2- You can't get the filesize of the download without starting the download. That's crazy. FDM can do this by a shortcut.
3- Category order can not be changed anyway. The last created category is added to the end of the list. They can not be sorted too.
Although the features mentioned above are still missing, FlashGet is still the best download manager. It's Import-Export features are unmatched!
I'm still waiting for the next, Perfect version!
1.5.1 (Mar 15, 2007)
Good, but not the best one;
Personally I need a feature that does not exist in Orbit. I need to transfer the download list from a machine that has a slow Internet connection to another with a faster Internet connection each day. This can only be achieved by a proper Export/Import feature and Orbit lacks it (this is why I'm still using the buggy FlashGet).
The problem with Orbit is; it does not let me export the download list properly, only downloaded items list can be exported, and this list does only contain the links, there are no details.
It's not possible to rename a download item (incomplete) in the list. (the "Rename File" option in the Edit menu is grayed out and there is no rename option in the "Edit Property" dialog)
In summary, it's a good application, but there are many miles to go...

Apple gives the IDE for free, however, Microsoft is still preventing Visual Studio Express users from using mobile SDK's and developing mobile phone apps.
1.5.1 (Dec 12, 2007 - 8:16 AM)
I've done the following (for each of the 3 filetypes XLS,XLSX and XLSM) to fix the problem :
1- Open : My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types ,
2- select XLS, XLSX or XLSM file type, then click "Advanced" button,
3- select "Open" action, then click "Edit" button
4- Fill in the following values :
( "Use DDE" must be selected. )
a) Application used to perform action = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE" /e "%1"
(the /e switch is required on some computers, however, on some other computers it causes Excel to hang, it's just experimental :( )
b) DDE Message = [open("%1")]
c) Application = EXCEL
d) DDE Application Not Running = [rem see command line]
e) Topic = System
Press "OK" button to refresh the file's action.
Close all the property sheets (by pressing OK), then try opening an XLS, XLSX or XLSM file to ensure it's OK.
Best luck...
1.5.1 (Dec 12, 2007 - 4:36 AM)
I have just installed Office 2007 SP1 on our network, it seems that Excel file open problem is still there :(
I had to fix the DDE settings manually after the installation.
1.5.1 (Aug 18, 2007 - 5:50 AM)
Actually file open problem is just one of our troubles, as you pointed out I wanted to fix that setting by a .reg file however I could not spare time just for that purpose, each time I hoped that MS would fix the issue. Also, my quick fix does not do a great job, it causes another problem, when a file is double clicked/opened at the explorer, it tries to be opened twice (One via DDE and another with my parameter fix "%1", and if I disable DDE some files are not opened at all or simply freeze!) I mean the whole File-Open system is problematic with Office 2007.
Besides all the negative comment I made about Office 2007, it's still a great improvement over the previous version. There are so many beauties inside, I can't live without it now.
In Excel : Row-Column limit is high, Conditional Formatting is very easy and very powerful so that you can apply formats without writing any code for rules most of the times, and the "Format as Table" thing, it simply rocks! Finally, Ribbon is a great idea, however sometimes finding an item becomes difficult. Maybe there should be a quick search box for just filtering the items with related words.
I hope Open Office will have such features as soon as possible, because Office 2007 costs too much for a home user, therefore I don't use it at home, I don't want to use a cracked version either.
1.5.1 (Aug 17, 2007 - 3:41 AM)
I'm very pleased to know that Office 2007 SP1 is on the way. We're currently using it at our office, and I must admit that I was the one who suggested/insisted on this version of the Office when we were planning buying Office, however so many bugs exist int this version that cause freezes and prevents working on files, specifically in Excel :(, as the System Administrator, I had many bad times at the office.
For example, whenever a fix for Office 2007 is out and applied to clients via Automatic Updates, opening the Office files via double clicking becomes problematic. I know there is a solution for this but it requires extra work for me : visit all the client machines, fix the "Open" action string for all the Office files types in Explorer's "File Types" section. I can't believe Microsoft still does not fix this setup problem.
I hope SP1 comes as soon as possible.
