  1. Review - F-PROT Antivirus for Windows

    6.0.9.1 (Jul 27, 2008)

    Terrible!
Downloaded trial version, first exc downloaded from Frisk was corrupt.
Second worked fine, but update hung at about sixty percent.
Had to kill update with task manager and start over.
This time update would not even open.
Decided to remove program and damn uninstal utility stuck also!
Downloaded so called "removal tool" from F-prot,did nothing at all.
Ended up going into safe mode to remove program and regedit to remove legacy keys.

Maybe its just my machine but I had a colon full of of F-Prot.
    Back to Avira!

  2. Review - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    1.19 (Jun 30, 2008)

    Undesired username:
what the hell are you talking about?
this program does not have a tray icon!
    Just the open window tabs.
I am toggling these from restore, move, size, minimize, maximize and close,
    with no problem.
Just because your machine bites the dust while a certain program is installed or active, does not mean its the cause.
My machine is the most skittish, nurosis ridden,
tempermental twit to ever escape from CastleGates, but it has no problem with this one.

  3. Review - SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition

    4.15.1000 (Jun 30, 2008)

    All those residents?
Set it not to open with windows, then you only have the little icon (what the hell is that thing anyway,a beetle?) when you start the program.(exit after scan)
At least it does not have constant process;s running even thought it has no real time protection, the way ad-aware and A-squared free do.
There is a reason the forums tend to ask for a scan with this one.
SpybotSD is a old, honorable, and noble program that has earned a rest in silicone heaven.
This with Malwarebytes anti-malware is the future.

  4. Review - AntiVir Personal Edition for Windows

    8.1.0.46 (Jun 30, 2008)

Yeah it can be tough to update, the last few days have been bad,but you can always do a manual update.

The thing is It is lighter than KAV,and as incredable as it seems, DOES have a better detection rate than NOD-32. (at least for one test).
    Is equal to NOD-32?
I don't thank so,but its not the issue.
It does not cost 40 US a year either.
Compare it with Avast!AVG,Bit-defender free,COMODO anti-virus,etc,and you see just how much better it is than these turds.

  5. Review - avast! Home

    4.8.1201 (Jun 30, 2008)

    Not only detection rate counts?
That is exactly right if you are a brain washed fanboy,or you just want to be able to say you have "a" anti-virus on your machine.
My queston is why have all of these "shields" and "guards" if they are unable to DETECT what they are spposed to "shield" and "Guard" you from?

Detection is not the only factor that is true.
    System Impact is important.
what good is a clean computer if your anti-virus slows it down and degrades performance worse than most malware would?

Avast has the detection of a blind dude in boxing gloves looking for a needle in a heystack.
It slows surfing, eats memory, delays boot time time, its interface is designed to trip you out,the instructions are un-clear.

One thing it does well is update.
Although with this clunker it really does not matter.
I know,I know, people are going to say:"I love avast! I have had it for five years and never had a virus!"
if that is true, they can just uninstal Avast and save some CPU and memmory.
It has not been Avast that has has kept them safe,it is either clean living or blind luck!

Yes,the Avast guys are serious.Maybe they should even lighten up a little, something needs to change, their product is crap.
but most serous of all is the legion of fanboys that forget we are talking about a bunch of "ones" and "zeros",not their family, religion,or country.
That level of blind loyality to a piece of software is scary.

"2" rather than "1" because it is 'a" anti-virus,just not a good one,and its free.
