  1. Review - Yahoo! Music Jukebox

Tagging is very poor, and often incorrect.

I have tracks that it displays incorrectly, yet MMJB, Foobar, DR Tag and other display correctly.

For example: Artist is 'Blink-182', but YMJ displays it as '03 Blink-182'. 3, incidentally, is the track number. I have looked at the header of the file, and the track number is nowhere near the artist string, the tag order in the header is: artist album title track no.

And it is very very slow.

    And it crashes.

BTW: I have tried it on 4 PCs, one of which is brand new, and apart from XP, only has YMJ installed, yet it has the same problems.

I used to love MMJB, used it all the time, with a database of 13000 songs. Now, it is very poor. There are numerous examples of problems, but here is one that shows how the basic programming is wrong:

I use AutoDJ classic: I choose to pick all the songs from 1957. There are 4 artist and 4 tracks, but it says incorrectly, there are 8 artists and 8 tracks.

I then add a second criteria, picking only those tracks with a release year of 1957 and a rating of 3. There is only one, but it says there are 1361 tracks, cleary wrong.

This is just one example of bad programming: it crashes, it is slow, will lose artist from its display (even when in the database), often reducing the DB size to exactly 5000 (a mgic number?), even though it had 13435 yesterday and will have 13435 tomorrow.
