10.0 Build 6685 (Nov 18, 2005)
Am I losing it, or do I recall updates of the product for life if you were a registered user?
Too bad, I won't spend the money to upgrade.

Before the natives begin to pummel Messenger into the ground, consider what it is really for. MSN Messenger is a wonderful program, an independent program to communicate with friends, family and such. Windows Messenger is part of the XP operating system. Where it allows many of the same features of the MSN messenger, it's design is to be part of a network infrastructure, and allow communications between members of the same. Its design permits 3rd party modification for the same.
Think of it as Windows Messenger for work, MSN Messenger for play.
Make more sense now?
0.94 Beta (Nov 8, 2004)
Humph. I tried that "Weird Science" thing a long time ago. All I ended up doing was corrupting Windows and setting fire to a Victoria Secret catalog.
It seems to be a nice try though. Take my advice though, try to get out a little more often. I mean hey, I'm a geek like everyone else here. But I'd worry about dating your laptop on a Saturday night.

5.0.0.8 Build 1106 (Nov 7, 2003)
I am sure the author of the software worked hard and diligently on this program, and should be thanked for making it available to us. If this is part of his education and submitting it for the ritualistic "Thank you Sir, may I have another?!", Bravo.
But sometimes you have to ask yourself,"is this REALLY needed?" I must have a half a dozen programs that give me the same data and more.
Keep writing Man, it's people like you that invariably make the really cool free/shareware of tomorrow. I give you a 4 on principal alone.

The program jams. It works as advertised, no bugs, runs in the background without so much as a hiccough with Office XP running in the foreground, works great with my Hip Zip player. I run it through a SB Live 5.1 card and a biamplified Dolby Digital AC-3 system.
As for the people complaining with low scores, half of you downgrade it because it's Microsoft. To you, I say "Get a grip". And to the other half complaining it's too big or uses up too many resources, to you I say "Go out and get a real computer instead of the '70's vintage pocket calculator on your desk. And this time, pick the one which DOESN'T come with a free toaster".
There. I feel much better now.

I bought a new Eee PC 1000H and I positively LOVE this machine!!! It does everything my 17" desktop replacement does and it's much easier to tote about... as us geeks start spreading the word and demonstrating the new form factor, I think they will become very popular! I use mine for biz and pleasure, and it's a very effective platform!!

If you are having problems with SP3, specifically on XP Home, make sure you do the following: 1- BACK UP YOUR DATA!!! 2- shut down your computer and do a cold boot. 3- make sure that ALL RUNNING APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED! Close all of your system tray applications, run task manager and shut down processes running in the background that are "invisable" programs (you'll be surprised what's running). 4- TURN OFF YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE FOR THE INSTALLATION. AV programs are notorious for screwing up service packs. You can be safely assured that MS is not going to install a virus riddled service pack. 5- For good measure, run an anti-virus scan of your system prior to previous steps for good measure. 6- Make sure your drivers are up to date. 7- Make a system restore point prior to running the SP. Follow these steps and you should be able to get a clean installation of SP3. Good luck!

I own a Zune 80 and love it! Music quality is excellent, great perpherals, a wonderful screen, interface is easy to use and complete (the touch pad is nice)and you are NOT limited to using the Zune marketplace to purchase music. Alternatives like eMusic are out there with great downloads and no DRM! With 3rd party software, you can load complete movies from DVD's with high quality playback. Same with podcasts and photos. Multiple formats of music are supported at very high bitrates. Granted the Zune 2.5 software isn't everyone's favorite, but I have spoken with MS and another program is in development. Want a great player? Zune 80. Just get over the fact it's a Microsoft product. If the marketing was better, you'd see more Zunes out there

Just close your eyes, click your heels three times, repeating "there's place like home...".
There will always be a place and need for us good ol' geeks LOL.

Gee, seeing that the National Weather Service is a function of the Federal Government, aren't we already paying for the service?
Come to think about it, don't we pay Senator Rick Santorum's salary too? Maybe you people in PA should give that some serious thought as well.
I am a Floridian, and I rely on NWS radar in the coming months, to help manage power supplies amongst other reasons. Since I help pay for it, I expect to receive the service.
