By freeing itself from the browser, Glide does not have the same limitations of strictly browser based apps like Google and offers greater mobility and cross platform collaboration than the old guard software companies. In a nutshell, Glide’s strategy is data-centric not application centric providing access to files locally or online from Windows, Mac and Linux PCs and over 50 mobile devices running various operating systems. Glide automatically translates files based on device/OS/network recognition creating compatibility across devices, networks, operating systems, software and file formats.

I agree that the browser is not the best environment for Office applications. Glide Sync and Glide Crunch are local C/C++ applications that run on the desktop, not in the browser. Glide provides both local and browser based versions of their software. In contrast, Google Apps are entirely browser based which limit their feature set and performance.
