Having to install iTunes to load my songs into my iPod seems as the only solution after trying alternative applications. That doesn't make iTunes a good one though.
This is a BLOATED tool which requires around 100MB of RAM when loaded (Windows Vista Aero takes that... but that's AERO), it also installs around 3 windows services that are loaded every time you start your computer, despite you using iTunes or not... and finally, I also found that it installs "Bonjour" without giving any indication of its need! WTF?!

This is part of my 'MUST HAVE' set of utilities. I started using it when found myself unable to properly cleand index.dat files. This little app saved my day... and now years! :)
2.00.491 Beta 2 (Aug 25, 2007)
A must have. I've been learning to configure it further through the winapp2.ini file. It works GREAT.
To Point Zero: if you cannot understand well a computer, then forbid yourself from trying to optimize it! :)

Who can trust someone who uses the "Mastertech" nick and who cannot even understand that rating an application on one feature does not go along preaching on prefetching? :)

On the same lines, to the guy below, you can simply click on the "Free download" link to get it. :)

It's a shame, but Vista has basic flaws...

I agree with the improvement process that you mention.
That's why I'll skip Vista! ;)

I'm a PC user, I’m a gamer.
I do recognize Apple's ads as very impacting on people's minds.
From my circle of friends, they keep bringing them up during our conversations when a new set is released... as opposed to the latest MS ads.
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to translate into sales as they could, which could benefit us as consumers. It would be nice to have a different OS as option when looking for a gaming platform in a computer. :\

I can see the ad with 7 dwarfs acting like they do the work under the hood of your PC! lol

I got Vista into my laptop computer (Dell Inspiron 1721) at work. RAM load (with Symantec AV) after logon was 395 MB... and when you have 1GB of installed RAM, you are left with 60% of your RAM available for applications.
Well... I cried long enough to have the OS changed to XP (with local IT and they with Dell). So I got it. :)
Results are shown in the form of RAM usage. XP RAM load after logon: 274 MB (including Symantec AV). 10% more RAM available in exchange.. PLUS, the faster copy/paste process of files between servers and from/to my laptop.
Both OS let me do my work, but one is definitely faster and allows me to load applications (like 2 more, but more).
