  1. Comment - Europe: Microsoft's IE move gives Windows users no choice

    (Jun 12, 2009 - 10:55 PM)

What is with the European Commission anyways? Do they know what they want Microsoft to do. First, they tell them if they bundle IE8 with Windows, that limits competition. Now, Microsoft says they will comply and take IE8 out of Windows 7. Now the EC is saying that leaves users with no choice. Please make up your mind, EC.

  2. Comment - Is text-to-speech on Kindle 2 a threat to audiobooks?

    (Feb 23, 2009 - 11:30 AM)

This doesn't make any sense at all. Even if the Kindle 2 was a threat to audiobooks, so what. The VHS format was a threat to video reels, the color TV was a threat to B&W TV, MP3 players are a threat to CD players, and the list goes on and on. The automobile was a threat to manufacturers of horse drawn carriages. This is pointless. New things come along that are "threats" to the older items, for example the Kindle 2 and audiobooks. I hope they do try some sort of lawsuit and the judge laughs in their face for the complete stupidity of this argument. What would happen if this case was to win? There are enough lawsuits out there now. If this case won, it would be a field day for lawyers. Many companies would be suing each other simply because their new product threatened an old product. Development would be stymied because businesses would question what they could sell and not "threaten" some other product.

  3. Comment - Amazon Kindle: not a gamechanger...yet

    (Feb 11, 2009 - 10:58 PM)

If they sold the unit for $99, it would have a broad market appeal and not just be a toy for the wealthy. It would be better because at $9.99 for a book, that is much cheaper than most printed books. It would help the environment because less books having to be printed equals less paper being wasted. Overall, this is a useful device. However, the price is MUCH too high.

  4. Comment - SP2 for Vista, WS2K8 to enter beta Wednesday, will support Blu-ray

    (Oct 26, 2008 - 2:29 AM)

yeah, and that's your opinion. I happen to like Vista and there are many others that do as well. I think UAC is a great feature. It keeps my computer more secure by not allowing most malware applications to run, unless you give them permission.

By doing this, yes you do have to give some other programs that are more trustworthy permission. How hard can it be to click the mouse button to OK it anyways?

Do we always have to complain about something? It seems that way to me. People had told MS that they wanted a more secure OS and when they put security in Vista via UAC, people complain because it is asks for permission and they don't want it to. You can disable UAC, but that makes it less secure.

We are all entitled to our own opinion, but if you think everyone thinks Vista is the WORST microsoft OS, I am sure you will find many people who would not agree. I am one of them because I find Vista to be one of the most secure and therefore best OS they have released.

  5. Comment - Why are Vista sales tapering off?

    (Apr 29, 2008 - 1:28 PM)

Anyone that has a fairly recent computer should have an easy time running Vista, which in my opinion is superior in stability to XP. In addition, on my system which is an Emachines T6410 with 1.5 GB of RAM, my computer actually has a LOWER cpu usage than it did when I was running XP. I am running Vista Home Premium SP1 and so far it is running great and haven't really had any problems with any software except the software that was listed in the Vista Upgrade Advisor, which is a very good idea for anyone to run before deciding to install Windows Vista.
