  2. Review - DVD43

    4.0.0 (Dec 26, 2007)

    davrew:

That message means the OS needs to be restarted. You cant even 'log off' and 'log back in' either.

Im using 3.7.0.133 with DVD decrypter. First time I had to use DVD43 was on the movie 'The Recruit'. I kept getting an error message, and it would not finish the decrypt. Tried having DVD43 running and it worked like a charm. Rated a 4 out of 5 because I have only needed it once.

  4. Comment - New Internet Explorer 8 secures, slices, smokes

I tend to wonder who develops this acid test. Posted from (http://macdailynews.com/...p/weblog/comments/20526) 'Safari 4 browser scores 100 on Acid 3.', 'Safari passed Acid 2 on October 27, 2005, two-and-a-half years before any other popular browser. Safari is the first — and only — web browser to pass Acid 3. Acid 3 tests a browser’s ability to fully render pages using the web standards used to build dynamic, next-generation websites, including CSS, JavaScript, XML, and SVG.'

Odd isnt it? Maybe apple just wants a level playing field to be judged on? They got a good start with making 'the industrys tests'.

  5. Comment - Irish ISP to block P2P and music sharing sites

    v0.1 (Feb 24, 2009 - 5:53 PM)

I like that... Recording a purchased tv show or movie from your cable subscription. Putting it on a cd/dvd for viewing later with your family. Isnt that just a hard copy of PVR??? Whats the difference?

    Great post!

  6. Comment - Half of charges against Pirate Bay dropped

    v0.1 (Feb 23, 2009 - 10:56 AM)

I use torrents for free items I cannot find in a store. You would be amazed what you can find that is not available anywhere else. The descriptions of the items by other users peak my interest. Thus if the site did not 'make available' than that persons work would not be enjoyed. This would not peak their interenet web page, and thus not CREATE income for them. All new age recording artists put their music on these sites FIRST so that a buzz can be created. The RIAA knows this and tries to benefit from sueing and making money from the same technology that they still do not understand. Open office is available as a torrent download. Is that copyright infringement on open source?

  7. Comment - Pirate Bay copyright infringement trial begins, founders plead 'not guilty'

    v0.1 (Feb 17, 2009 - 10:33 AM)

I agree with the 'no crap part'. I agree with the 'pay for work so you can earn a living part'. But having invested $20 million dollars into a movie and people 'stealing it' is a little different. If you look at the amount of money that they made on 'iron man' and how much 'potential' money was stolen from them, lets look at some math. $571,827,600 from imdb all time world archive for money earned. And they cost 20 million to make the movie. 571827600/20000000 = 28.6%. Thats a 71.4% markup. We will say that 20% of the movies were pirated (which is probably really high). Now look at car manufacturers. Cars have been stolen for years. People go to jail and pay fines. But if you look at the difference between 'copying a movie' and 'copying a car', you can copy a movie but not a car at your house. Access us easier. Another point. Think of all of the dvdr manufacturers that can charge $50 for 100pk of blank dvds. You can buy a hard drive cheaper that holds more. So what is the point of selling blank dvds? Blank cds? You cant buy a car copier at the store can you? So this makes it different. Your not 'STEALING THE ORIGINAL' your 'CLONING IT'!!! I am not a pirate. I do not like them. However in the face of the law, I think that the industry is 'nickle and diming everyone'

  8. Comment - Microsoft follows Apple with retail stores, but will people line up for a Zune?

    v0.1 (Feb 15, 2009 - 9:08 AM)

I like how your business model breaks down well. But my previous point of having customers come in to the store to see everything integrated would be another plus. Tech support was mentioned already. And it keeps the profits from the other retailers. Why would you go to a Ford dealership to buy a Chrysler? Why go to Wal Mart when the Microsoft store is around the block and you can test the games? I think it is all in the marketing of the business. Integrating everything together. Having a 'board meeting' style that can introduce customers to upgrades or better software needs. Plus you may be able to get someone other than a minimum wage shelf stocker to take to you. That has specs and can answer the 'difficult' questions. Whenever I have questions about computers, I have to turn to professionals for answers not the blog fanatic facebook user. So that would be nice.
