  1. Review - iTunes for Windows

    7.6.2 (Apr 3, 2008)

I have a dual core vista laptop and iTunes runs great on my machine. When first loading it does take a lot of CPU use but for me it drops to almost 0% in less than a minute.
If you don't have an iPod then sure there are other/better apps, but if you do this is for you. Of course there are other apps that work for the iPod also, but few can offer the features and ease of iTunes. This isn't just for computer newbies. If you want something that works and works without having to think about it thats ok. You can still be a geek and enjoy iTunes. I have plenty of software that requires time, tweaking and general hassle to get running well. Its nice to have something I don't have to spend a lot of time for it to work.

  2. Review - save2pc

    3.11 (Oct 18, 2007)

I just started using this and it works great. I have Vista and there are no problems for me. I don't see any ads on it and I have the current version. Highly recommended program.

  3. Review - K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

    1.39 Beta (Oct 7, 2005)

This is the defacto in easy to use software!
Just remeber to uninstall any old versions before installing a new one.
With Media Player Classic I can watch anything I can throw at it, even HD.

  4. Review - IE Middle Clicker

This program is amazing! It works perfectly and I have not found a bug yet. It is freeware like this that makes you smile.

  5. Comment - Clear WiMAX launches in 10 new markets, adds new cities to plans

    1.1 (Sep 1, 2009 - 8:17 PM)

They did the upgrade for Abilene, TX about 3 weeks ago. Before the upgrade speeds weren't the fastest in the world but could still game online, etc just fine. Since.. well.. I'm lucky to get close to the old speeds and if I do get those speeds or the "faster" speeds it usually only last for maybe an hour at a time. I will lose connection completely at least every 4 hours. This upgrade was free with no option to not do it... if I could I would go back to the old speeds... which were reliable at least. With the new service it feels like I'm back in the 56K modem days. The other day it was out completely for 11 hours! My housemate is with them also and his problems mirror mine.

Since today was the "official" roll out, for the media anyway, I will give them a little more time, but if things don't improve drastically I am leaving Clearwire and will warn anyone of them!

BTW: Support from them is nonexistent.

  6. Comment - Patent office rejects TiVo's claims against EchoStar's software workaround

    1.1 (Aug 5, 2009 - 10:13 AM)

I am missing something I guess. The cable companies here all offer DVRs. I'm with Dish Network now and their DVR seems no different from any other DVR I have seen or used. I've never seen or known anyone who has a TIVo. If the cable companies are using some kind of different technology than Dish than I understand, but from a users standpoint it seems no different. TIVo can't compete in the DVR market when every (almost) TV provider is offering DVRs. Why would someone pay more for another DVR(TIVo) and add another monthly bill? (I think TIVo charges, but again no reason for it around here so have never looked into it.)

  7. Comment - Clearwire announces a ten-city simultaneous WiMAX launch

    1.1 (Aug 5, 2009 - 10:02 AM)

They have already given it to us here in Abilene, TX and its real nice. Been with Clearwire for a while now but the new speeds are real nice. I'm not considering going to another ISP for faster speeds anymore. The upgrade was free and even lowered my bill by $4 to $30/month.

I agree, here in TX the land is more or less flat so all is good here. I've never had a bad signal from them. I've had a low signal at times but as long as you have at least 2 of the 5 lights on your modem lit then you are getting full speeds. Also have a friend who lives way way out in the country and gets a good steady signal.

I sound like a fanboy I suppose, but the new upgrade which doubled the speeds is only 2 days old for me after at least 3-4 years with them.

  8. Comment - WD unveils a hard drive expansion kit for Dish Network DVRs

    1.1 (May 15, 2008 - 10:03 PM)

Ya it is BS they charge to enable the USB port. But very cool of WD to make a HD just for it. Much needed and it needs to be quiet.

  9. Comment - Office 2007 Downloads Top 200,000

Got it, love it. I just wish they would add newsgroup functionality to Outlook. The RSS feature is great!
