Btw. current version is 2.9.
In the free version there is only advert-ware. The free version will by default install Ask toolbar in your Internet browser, but it informs you about it and let you de-select it.

Total commander is amazingly configurable.
1. If you select show -> tree you can turn one of the file list panes into a directory tree. You can drag and drop and reorganize in this tree. This also solve your 3. request, to only have 1 file view window.
2. In configuration -> options -> Packer clear the tickbox called "Treat archives like directories", then archives will act as normal files.

Top stuff. If I could have just one utility on my Windows PC, Total Commander would be it. I use it 100 times à day. The price, pay once - get future upgrades for free, made it an easy choice to decide buying it. It also shows that the company believe in making a product that can keep attracting new users.

That is all great, but I wish they would soon get Thunderbird 3 ready.
