1.4 Release Candidate 3 (Jun 25, 2003)
i have been a loyal Netscape user for years now. Recently
i have been using Netscape 7.02 (based on Moz 1.0.2) which was
good and relatively stable compared to most other new netscapes this side of 4.80, which was getting too outdated
in standards compliance.
After using Mozilla 1.4-rc3 for about an hour or two, i doubt i will go back to anything much short of this release.
maybe someday if netscape releases a version based on moz 1.4rc3 or later, then MAYBE i might go back to N7, but for now Mozilla is just too much faster and beefier and more stable.
in the early days, netscape had always been the pioneer of new features, even if not rock solid yet, they would test out new features faster than Mosaic (before ms-ie ever came on the scene) this was ancient history here...; it meant a few more crashes, but the features came out so fast, and the old bugs got fixed so fast, it made it worth it.
netscape since then seems to have lost that cutting edge,
and Mozilla seems to have picked up the ball and ran with it. they now feel like netscape used to 10 years ago.
i think i have just converted myself to Mozilla for the forseeable future :) i like it
1.4 Release Candidate 3 (Feb 13, 2004 - 2:27 PM)
many people chose to buy Windows or Mac or Linux based on
what their friends and familay already are familiar with; this way they can get "free tech support".
if you are a novice, that kind of free help matters more than which OS is "better"; at least for a large number of (first time) computer buyers.
